(0652) Late up again, took that second sleep after an 0200 wake up … did not post but just gathered in the middle of the night, then crashed again. That wound on the forearm from yesterday healed up naturally, so that at least was good news. Only mentioning it coz a few were following the story.

The chances of being taken in

Most people of some intelligence, with at least half a brain, imho do allow their own opinion of themselves (I can’t be taken in any more) to blind them to deluberately included misleading words and images designed to draw them in, knowing full well how highly they rate themselves. There’s a name for it … Dunning-Kruger:

“The Dunning–Kruger effect is a cognitive bias whereby people with low ability or limited knowledge in a specific domain greatly overestimate their own competence.”

There’s a field of study, much beloved by the psycho-left (Them) called Neuro-Linguistic Programming (hereafter NLP) and an example from years back was in a Nourishing Obscurity post about Groupthink … it was mainly about Common Purpose in this country, out of the Office of the Deputy Prime Minister (ODPM). They loved techniques such as Delphi (itself a buzz word).

The normie with unused thinking processes was easily taken in (much beloved by advertisers, supermarts etc.), young people often needed more though and as the young often see themselves see themselves as the ants’ pants (got it all taped, dial-in ability) … well it needed more.

And the ones most easily fooled were the “intelligent”, college professor types who “could never be taken in” … add to that techies, those in IT. One obstinate group needing to be played on were what I used to call the Colonel Harrumphs … they’d vote Reform these days … even Restore … they are awake to Them’s tricks but being educated, Them were no way going to fool them.

The key words in the Dunning-Kruger above are in bold … in a specific domain. You can be quite clever in a variety of domains and then start thinking within some other domains, e.g. health, medicine … or the law of the land … or online in general …

… and truly clever people can take you/take me, make no mistake … happens often, playing on your/my weak spots. It’s how we’re sold things.
