a) UK. The RNLI has temporarily closed its Portsmouth station following anti-migrant protests in the city.
Volunteers for the service were branded “traitors” after bringing 120 migrants, who had been rescued from a single dinghy, ashore near Portsmouth Lifeboat Station.
[Actions have consequences.]
b) EU. Pedro Sánchez and the European left have suffered repeated humiliating defeats in the European Parliament over Ceuta, with MEPs endorsing the terms ‘invasion’ and ‘hybrid warfare’ for July’s mass border breach. The outcome also underlined an increasingly reliable EPP–ECR–PfE–ESN voting alignment on migration, already visible in June’s tougher EU Return Regulation.
c) France. More than six months after the municipal election, on Thursday, the public rapporteur recommended to the Orléans Administrative Court that the municipal election result in Montargis—a town in the Loiret department won by the National Rally in March—be annulled due to irregularities. Following the vote, RN candidate Côme Dunis had won by a margin of 59 votes in this town of 15,000 inhabitants, which had been governed by the political right since 2001.
Administrative courts generally follow the recommendations of public rapporteurs. The court will issue its ruling in the coming days.
[Lawfare, again.]
d) Italy. Meloni scraps road tax for one year due to high fuel prices
The exemption covers petrol, diesel and hybrid cars of up to 80 kW (109hp) and all motorbikes and mopeds.
e) UK. Tommy Robinson exposes a Jihadi spy working inside parliament.
4. Greenwald
I’ve seen this guy as a conservative till now, but criticising all sides when necessary.

Then I noticed the profile pic and so checked it out:

2. “Lawyering up”?

5a. Two ex military colleagues became RNLI volunteers and, together their crews, really did rescue people at sea, often putting their own lives in danger, so I have nothing but admiration for them. However, There have been quite a few arguments as to whether the South coast crews are actually rescuing the small boat (but getting bigger) invaders, when it is said they are launching their boats when the invaders are still well within French waters, sometimes even being escorted by the French navy. To me, There is a difference between rescuing people in distress and meeting up with the boats under pre arranged appointments, when the invaders only become in distress once they have entered British waters. Shirley that makes them a government sanctioned ferry service rather than a life saving voluntary charity That may be why the protests and threats are being made (by morons) against RNLI volunteers.
The numpties in government don’t care, as they can use these protests as another example of ‘the far right’. What the answer is, I have no idea, but perhaps “Stop the boats” should refer to Border Farce and RNLI boats staying in port and only responding to genuine distress calls instead of setting out when the French navy contact them and say they are doing the same, and arranging a meeting point?
Your point is well made, Penseivat. They (dinghy chancers) are ‘in distress’ as soon as they leave a French beach in an overloaded rubber boat of dubious construction. International Maritime Law is quite clear about it:
Coastal State Responsibility: Coastal states must ensure that every person in distress at sea is helped and must provide a safe place for survivors.
By allowing it (beach launching) the French are in contravention to SOLAS 1974, SAR 1979 and UNCLOS 1982. Using your maritime rescue assets to shepherd an unseaworthy vessel toward a handover point some 12 nautical miles into the busiest sea lane in the world is not providing assistance. It is collusion with human traffickers. Both French and British governments are complicit as evidence exists of radio communications between French Maritime Gendarmerie vessels and H.M. Border Force vessels. A criminal enterprise with joint state sponsorship. That is all.
