The key aspect from our 2026 point of view with this film was that the section in the book where all the machinations were to inevitably lead to communism in Britain by re-electing a Labour govt … that was left out of the film. There was political reason then (pressure and finance) and there is political reason now.
The book came out in 1984 and the film in 1987.
