Please forgive me for taking so long to respond. The home front has been a veritable zoo! We have had workers in and out of our home at surprising times finishing up a job that was supposed to have taken 2 maybe 3 months at most. Instead, it has taken 7 months! Towards the end things have been a bit hectic.
The finished product is very nice. On the whole, no problems with the builder.
The past week or so, except for a quick check-in, I have taken time away from the blog – a brief hiatus of sorts. Besides living in a maze for so long and my being of the more creative bend, I must put forth effort (and I do try – phew) to stay somewhat neat and orderly. Due to the small distribution of sanity I have been allotted in life, I have to work on keeping some sort of order some of the time!
Along with the addition and a little remolding in my home, my summer took a very disturbing turn. I must say it took somewhat of a toll on me. Sooooo, my recent attention on other things has been a good distraction.
However,I have missed 😿 UHC🐈🐈🐈🐶🐕🐈⬛🐶(and dogs….🤫).

I actually meant to write Pen the time I first wrote Penny! Being the silly I am who posts and then reads afterwards, for some humiliating reason I cannot understand about myself, Penny came out 🤷♀️🤭.
After a bit I justified to myself that Penny made sense. Our Pennies (Penny) used to be mostly copper when I was a child.
Ooooo weeee! Nothing like a shiny new copper penny! Also, my hair although brownish was very copper colored for most of my life especially when out in the sun. It looked like a (you got it) a copper penny!
I have read that long ago police officers over here wore copper badges hence the term ‘copper’ (cop) by the likes of James Cagney in old films. Of course, we know of your past career in law enforcement. 👮♂️🚓🚨🚔

Wow! What can I say? I have never ever had such a magnificent tome addressed to me. If I may, I would like to explain how Penseivat came about. Pen is a shortened form of my middle name. After I retired from a County Police force, I began doing voluntary work, including odd jobs on a hospital radio station. Probably because of my background, I was asked to wander around the hospital and interview patients and staff about their various experiences (without having to caution them or read them their rights, first). I was overheard saying I was rather pensive about this, and I began to be introduced as “Here is pensive at ….” . This turned into Penseivat (with a slight change in spelling) on emails and when responding to blogs.
Why are Police are called coppers? There are three main suggestions. Apart from the copper badges and uniform buttons, early British Police used to sign on with C.O.P. – Constable On Patrol, however, the accepted explanation, for British Police, is that it stems from the Latin “capere”, which means ‘to take’, such as taking criminals into custody.
British Police are also called a Bobby, (Bobbies in the plural) or Peelers. This originated from the British Home Secretary, Sir Robert Peel, forming the first official Police force in 1829, patrolling the City of London. Before that, the Bow Street Runners, working out of Bow Street Magistrates Court, formed the city’s Police force. There are currently, 43 Police forces, (or Services as they are now called) in England and Wales, with Scotland and Northern Ireland each having their own regional force. My time was spent in a County force, though am long retired.

The Toodles handle is not nearly as impressive as yours!
At some point along the way in my long life I think I had gotten in the prissy habit of saying ‘toodles’ to certain people when ‘goodbye’ seemed too final for the occasion. Eventually, several people started calling me Toodles. On the site at times it has been shortened to Toods by some.
Also, we were living at the river for several years and we often toodled around the area in our little boat. ‘Wanna go toodling around the river?’ Sure!
We call our river place Healing Waters. It is good for what ails ya!
When I decided to sign up for Nourishing Obscurity years ago so that I could make a comment about something that James may have said that kicked up my dander 🤭, I probably planned to make one appearance and then toodle on out of there.
Well….Ten-ish years hence on the site I am still toodling around the place from time to time with you kool 🐈s.

It was originally “Pip pip toodle-oo” but somehow morphed into “toodle pip”. My beloved Grandad used to sign off that way when I was leaving the safe haven of my Grandparents home at the end of the school hols.

What a tribute to them and to our Father who blessed you with them.
Cuddles and I have grandchildren. We see them often but not often enough. After they leave having spent the day with us, only briefly, for 5 minutes at most, we take a few deep breaths – phew! After that we are trying to find another time, as soon as possible, to visit with them again!
They are blessings from God. We see them every Sunday at church and usually at least once during the week. We chat or send a text here and there, it depends. If I speak to my daughter the grands’ want to listen in!
Our modest river home allows us extra special visits. Last week was once such day. We played and had fun a week ago.
The crew was returning from an early birthday party at the beach and called asking if we didn’t mind if they could drop by. They were bringing lunch for us on their brief visit. It ended up being an all day visit ! 😉🥰
Cuds and I were getting much done that day, but said ‘sure’! We decided the house and yard can stay. How precious to have one’s children, including son-in-law and especially the grandchildren really want to see us!
They came in like darling tornadoes! Hugs and kisses galore! Toys that we keep there for them came out. River play ensued. I had 2 helpers out of 3 (a 6month old isn’t good at pulling weeds, I don’t care what anyone says!) come help when they saw me slipping into a brief work stint outside.
I can’t go past a weed without pulling it, as well as other various weeds, which after this summer, the summer of goofballs and ‘thorny people weeds’ ambushing me 🫤😑😲🥴, so are the weeds in our yard. Yep, gonna yank a bunch of weeds out! By the roots!
The two older ones came out and helped. Then we splashed in the river! Fishies!
I have just looked and see I have written a book! Believe it or not I wrote more than I am posting here about our darlings.
The point I had intended to make was …is… you called your g’parent’s place a haven and I think you really meant they were a haven for you. You called your grandfather beloved💕and indeed he was.
As fond and beloved as they were to you, believe me, they were every bit as fond ( more!) of you and their hearts were filled to bursting of love for you!

People here work very hard. Uncovering deep hidey things, an awareness on bread making, bountiful gardening and inspiring art work, wisdom, knowledge and experiences that are shared, edification of others, different opinions exchanged. There is also behind the scenes mechanics, if you will. There is a lot going on at this place.
The efforts and the significant risks many are taking in doing some things is not overlooked. Bravery, wisdom, mission minded and moving to the Light i.e., to Truth is something that is imperative in the lives of the warriors here.

You reminded me of something my Nanna used to say sometimes after the grandkids’ invasion. “ Lovely to see you, nice to see you go home, thank you for coming.” My grandparents’ home wasn’t very big – only two large bedrooms, a bathroom, kitchen, dining room and the front “parlour”. There wasn’t a garden, only a small paved yard at the back so on a Saturday which is when the invasions of kids and grandkids occurred bedlam ensued relieved somewhat by being sent off to the park at the end of the road along with the dog. Happy days! ☺️

I am no fan of Trump either now or his family esp. his eldest son who is a DOD contractor for the USA but allows someone close to Putin to contribute to his recent nuptials in the Bahamas. Allegedly. Also Barron’s proximity to the Tate bros is also questionable. Neither connections make for good optics.
Listening to Talk Radio today and the callers-in have zero sympathy for the good people of Piddington. One bloke had done his homework and brought the receipts. This little English enclave of white, middle-class liberal women, was all “refugees are welcome here” until they heard the ‘enrichment’ was coming their way by the bus load.
