~ Showing my ignorance here, again! I am curious as to why an incumbent who has been voted out before his/her term officially expires is allowed to stay on for what seems to be eons?
Quite understandably the incumbent would do any and everything possible to destroy, cover up, steal, rearrange as much as possible the mischief the PM and his/her staff has done that caused him to be voted out sooner than later.
Isn’t it a common practice in private corporations that once someone is given a no confidence vote he or she would be escorted out? Do Not Pass Go, or collect $200 buckeroos!
I understand my comments often indicate that I might be fairly ditzy and yet, paradoxically, I can be extremely logical. My logic draws the conclusion that it is not good practice to allow those booted out of office to remain in office🤔💭.
2TKeir as he’s affectionately known 😛 is pushing off early because Parliament breaks up for the holidays next week so presumably he wants to be able to shed the burden of PM in order to escape to exotic places and kick up his heels.
It seems to be a thing now in Europe – announcing retirement but not going immediately. Angela Merkel started it I think – hung on for a couple of years after.
CEOs voted out usually get a “golden handshake” on leaving and shuffle off to better things after a short interim to allow any mistakes they made be forgotten. Even if they’ve been found guilty by the courts some keep their status and carry on as in the case of Christine Lagarde who still manages to be President of the European Bank.
