A “Big Brother” drop this morning.

a) YouTube has restricted access within the European Union to a video from the Finnish programme Uusi Puheenaihe devoted to Chat Control, while the same recording remains available in countries outside the bloc….

b) Germany’s domestic intelligence agency could soon be authorised to secretly alter digital data, hack into private computers and mobile phones, enter homes without occupants’ knowledge, recruit 16- and 17-year-olds as informants, and never inform citizens that they had been subjected to surveillance.

c) The European Organisation for the Safety of Air Navigation (Eurocontrol) has moved to freeze funds owed to the Polish Air Navigation Services Agency (PANSA) to enforce a €1.3 billion Belgian court ruling against Poland in favour of the US drugmaker Pfizer.

d) The latest ABC headline tells us that Climate Change is becoming a major driver of child marriage across Asia and the Pacific. All those super cyclones and floods (that never used to happen) are killing the family chickens, see, and poor mothers can’t afford to keep their daughters.

e) The writer Renaud Camus [author of “The Camp of Saints” reported to the gendarmerie in Fleurance (Gers) to be questioned as part of proceedings initiated in Paris. The summons, received the previous month, had been issued by a public prosecutor and concerned two charges: racially motivated insult and incitement to violence and racial hatred….

The state of play at the blog level

First signs have been at NOWP and you can read of those … yes, there was moderation bin at work it seems … the danger is that that’s the original site and has much in the engine room. It’s still working but as you can see from Andy’s attempts to post yesterday, which I misunderstood, there is some interference in the commenting system.

The weird situation is that HQ is under severe spam attack (think this involves lists to be attacked) but other than that, it’s in order.

Unless I leave this venue that is and even then, nothing is lost … it’s backed up … it’s just not plugged in. After losing NO, we always knew this would eventually happen. Safest two sites for our tavern complex for now are HQ and Jstack but even Jstack has bizarre issues of complication in the works … it’s near impossible to open and compose on, plus it keeps signing itself out. To get back in, I must go through a chain involving a different email, which actually eventually works just now.

To cut to the chase … NOWP does work, it seems to be requiring moderation … if our droppers can stand that for now, I’d still use it. Reason for attack? Pretty obvious … the targets, innit?

UHC-WP is in the same boat as NOWP, as a WP blog under their direct control, low storage space. Workable for now though.

Jstack does work as a convoluted process … it’s not designed as a news site, it’s for authors’ views, e.g. Dan Wootton, Nick Dixon. It’s designed as a traffic builder … we went through this long ago.

Recommendation from me? Still use things as they are if you feel you can, I just need to be more vigilant about NOWP.
