14. When a butcher is better than a doctor
Isilme writes: “A week ago. I was told I could go to the chemist right away after an appointment the next day and the dressings I needed would be ready (the speed of things done over the computer!) So I went to the chemist – and was told they had none in the shop but I should come in the next morning. I duly arrived the following morning, only to be told that they were out of stock at the place they order from. The pharmacist phoned the doctor for an alternative. That, too, was out of stock. I was told it would be a fortnight before they could get anything.
Well, considering that I’d been told to change these dressings every 24 hours (and had already gone past that timing at that point) I was a bit miffed. And a fortnight would be no good because I had an appointment in 4 days’ time. They said they might have something suitable if I came back at 5pm. I returned at 5pm only to find that this third attempt at dressings was thwarted by a staff training day and they couldn’t get hold of them. They sent me home with a pack of sticking plasters!!!!
On the way home I went to the butcher’s to get some thin steaks for Beloved’s breakfast. Told the butcher the story of the dressings. He suggested I try what the butchers use if they cut themselves and it gets infected – rub a bit of soap (barely damp) on the sticking plaster and then a small sprinkle of sugar. So I tried it. It worked. Now…. how to explain to the doctor that I got a second opinion from the local butcher, and it worked……”

“The treatment for Cyclosporiasis shows antibiotics. I will start with natures antibiotic when I get home ‘Oregano oil and black seed oil’ capsules I have at home. Works better than pharmas from my experience.”
