a) Marine Le Pen caused a surprise by announcing her intention to stand as a candidate in the 2027 presidential election during her televised address following her conviction on appeal in the European parliamentary assistants’ case. In doing so, she is making a bold gamble, which will undoubtedly set the tone for a campaign that is already shaping up to be completely out of the ordinary.

b) Recently released Home Office data showed that Pakistani nationals granted Skilled Worker visas were accompanied by almost six times as many dependants as main applicants, intensifying criticism from the right of Home Secretary Shabana Mahmood’s recently announced immigration and asylum reform package….

c) Anti-Christian hate crimes across Europe remained at a consistently high level in June, with forty incidents recorded across ten countries, according to the Observatory on Intolerance and Discrimination against Christians in Europe (OIDAC Europe).

With the war in Ukraine showing no signs of ending in the short term, the northern flank under Russian pressure, and  the Iran war still ongoing—Washington was bombing the country during the summit…. etc. etc.
