Thursday [11 to 15]

(0918) Still sun above the cloud, currently being added to by four criss-crossing planes. (0945)

14. Heat pumps … not just expensive

… inefficient and an eyesore but I was thinking (brain hurts) about them. Do they work by funnelling air from outside? As in poisoned air, now full on in winter, pumped in to sicken residents? Was this planned?

13. On the surface it seems a reasonable request

However, if you consider new 5G and similar, sending out radiation to brains, there’s a case for keeping the phone at a distance. Solution?

  1. Do they work by funnelling air from outside?”

No! In the installation shown the heat transfer is done through the insulated pipes you’ll see going from the external unit to the house. This would either be in the form of refrigerant gas or water. There are also air-to-air units, but these still have a heat exchanger, so there’s no direct transfer of outside air to inside.

    JH: Uh huh.

  2. 13. Several years ago, young lady on a train taking to, presumably, her boyfriend, with the phone on loudspeaker. She ignored requests to turn the loudspeaker off, till an elderly gentleman sat down beside her, and said, “Put the phone down darling, and come back to bed.” before returning to his seat. She quickly terminated the call.
I made a mental note to try this in any similar incident, but sadly, none have happened as yet.

    JH: Effective, Penseivat.

  3. 14. Heat pumps are also noisy. Imagine living in a terrace where your neighbour’s and your units are just outside the windows.

    ……

JH: Thinking it’s part of why they’re pushing them.

    • Sometime last year I was reading about a new-build complex in California where every unit (apartment) had a heat pump installed and collectively the noise generated was 91dB. Nobody lives there now.
