Thursday [16 till close of play]

(1403) Just finished training (tris and back), which was after a long conversation with MMutR whom I’m hoping is preparing an article for us. Before that I had to prepare a beef lunch, (fish later), as protein is the order of the day. Before that long conversation were around 10 to 14 topics to talk to him about … which followed the regular blogging you see before you at elevenses and earlier. In other words, full on until this moment now, when I start this evening’s blogging and Xing. Going to add a few of the 14 topics at a time, then rest up, perchance to snooze … you have your routines too of course.

30. Pringles

Another curiosity. I’ve given way to my Pringles addiction in the past few days … this morning, guess what was at the top of the recommended youtube list? Yep … analysis of all substances used in them, plus reconstituted potato … go ahead if you’ll still eat them now.

My interest is how did youtube know? The only way would be to access my supermart order online. Unless, of course, Someone else Above decided to warn me. Hmmmmmm.

29. A point of view

28. Saw this too

27. Saw this

26. It’s not just Moo I run

Quick quiz question … what fragrance does gorse give off?

25. Hard disks

If you’re a techie, you might be looking for 24Tb drives or multiples of that. This is not about the tech per se … more about the cost. A while ago, a 20Tb was around £200 … today £500. What seems to be happening is that the higher the ask in Tb, the higher the price shoots up … but there appears to becan upper limit to size, space.

If that is the case and tech is approaching its zenith about now … what then of AI demands?

24. Cirkear caught out, sneaky bstd?

23. At NOWP 1355

One from DAD, one from IYE … interesting viewing.

22. Viktor and this Magyar character

Well, for a start, Magyar is the ancient name for Hungary, rather than just a person’s name. Then there was Viktor conceding so easily, no insults, to someone from his own party offshoot. Who has now refused to open borders.

Uh huh. Was the whole thing a rightwing put up job … and now his successor has a supermajority? Interesting, eh?

21. A fellow Xer, Sophia

… the narrowboat ex-nurse, vaxx refusenik etc. (good girl), wrote a piece on X, warning off certain types … and I replied:

That’s not the part which intrigued me … it was that she reposted both parts.

20. Back to those topics from pre-midday

Giorgia, the clown and Italy … X is full of G and clown embracing … this sums up part of the nausea in Italy which I’ve already posted sshots on. Here’s another:

Giorgia has been taken, outmanoeuvered.

19. Moo corner

18. Karoline Leavitt

This is an exercise in not jumping before exploring. You’ll notice things in this:

It’s from a Johnny Midnight, using a Fox broadcast which I’ve taken a sshot of … presented by ILAN … did she really call Obama out by name? And in what context? I must go back to X and check.

……

Ok, I just rewatched it … yes, she very much did say it, she laid it out in detail what Obama did and when. Uh huh … now that precludes the influence, mishearing or whatever of JM and ILAN … she said it all right.

Ok … many have said this over the years. Yes, but this is KL at her presser, broadcast by Fox. Different other thing. Anything KL says is ok’d by the boss first. So … indictment?

17. Miranda

I mentioned the film, that there were two versions, one either side of the pond. He picked up on “Miranda” and said … and I scribbled some notes whilst listening … Miranda is connected to Serenity, which is part of the Firefly universe, which concerns an interplanetary govt experiment with widespread drugs which are designed to turn people compliant and meek … but instead turn them into monsters … a bit like globopsycho and the political class right now. He also mentioned The 27th Day … maybe that’s the film he was speaking of.

16. Redacted thumbnails

Youtube did a strange thing. If you look at the Wimpy post (thanks for the comments, chaps), you see a picture before you start it. All right but in my history queue, the picture is different:

In fact, YT warned me with a note, saying this video’s thumbnail has changed. Hmmmmm … what’s going on?

Thur Mat

Some interesting names associated with this film:

“If it weren’t for the fact that the two films came out around the same time in different countries, I’d say the other either copied the British Miranda or the USA’s Mr. Peabody and the Mermaid. Both William Powell and Griffith Jones go fishing and get themselves a fetching young mermaid for their troubles.

Ann Blyth’s Lenore in Mr. Peabody is a silent young lady, but that’s definitely not true of Glynis Johns in the title role of Miranda. She not only talks, but is rather well read on human kind. Of course one does not learn everything from books, especially some of the interspecies facts of life.

Because it’s a man that Miranda is seeking. The mermen of the oceans seem to be just not her type. And though Griffith Jones is married he is taken with her.

Being a doctor, Jones concocts a wild cover story involving her being a paraplegic patient who has come to live with him and wife Googie Withers. He has dresses made an extra foot long to cover her tail and has her in a wheelchair for the most part. And she’s on an exclusively fish diet. Unusual doctor’s orders to say the least.

Miranda is a nice little fantasy and Glynis Johns practically glows in the title role. Besides Jones and Withers, other performances of note are David Tomlinson as their butler and the irrepressible Margaret Rutherford as the practical nurse who is engaged.”

Thursday [11 to 15]

(1059) Elevenses already, folks. DAD has a video up at 1355. (1059)

15. Important story from IYE today

There used to be a sign in the staff room of my F-I-L’s shop – “ You don’t have to be mad to work here, but it helps!” Wonder if it also applies in the Trump admin?
“ Waffle House employees in Rome, Georgia, say they have never laid eyes on Gregg Phillips, a top FEMA official who claims he was once teleported there……”

https://web.archive.org/web/20260407064818/https://www.independent.co.uk/news/world/americas/us-politics/gregg-phillips-teleport-waffle-house-employees-b2951959.html

“ Despite the criticism, Phillips doubled down on his supernatural account this week, claiming that the incident occurred while he was “heavily medicated” and that the incident was a “miracle” performed by God.”

Uh huh.

14. In the absence of Moos

Just reminding myself that I should roll with what we have at any given time. Being recently bereft of shorts such as Holmes, Dragnet, suddenly I’ve come into a surfeit of shorts on all sorts of topics … oh thankee, YouTube. Films also seem to be around … interesting ones.

Thus, I need to rethink the Moos until they start rolling in again.

13. Criminals of the west

12. How to stop the bstds?

11. Seems to be all over the world just now … coordinated

Wimpy

In 1980, I went on a trip to Oberammergau by bus … the bus stopped near or before Dover … at a Wimpy’s … in Paris, later, I was confined to my hotel room, as sick as a dog. It put me off Wimpy forever. Never had that issue at Little Chef.

Just on presentations for a mo … not sure about this man’s voice … is it real? AI? And this mania for drowning out presentation with music, however subdued … grrrrrrr … no matter.

Thursday [6 to 10]

10. Epsom

Also on the networking theme … with mainly ladies and some chaps reporting from different parts of the west, it can take us out of home territory for some time each day … which is why I’d largely missed the Epsom story:

9. Moo corner

She only just started posting just before this post … I was out of Moos.

Someone commented on Moo’s pics not always being sharp and light … for me, it’s what she writes, the sometimes quaint manner, more than the pic itself. Sometimes it’s the pic.

8. Was contemplating whether to mention this or not

… as it’s personal … there are many agendas online and in my X profile, I write not to DM me (direct message) unless already a friend. This was summed up some time ago by Elon:

X, to me, is a networking site … our chaps make much of the running, e.g. Sadbutmadlad, the chapesses see things and go off exploring, then reporting, many gals are good sleuths … along the way, we not only make friends but miss it when someone hasn’t checked in for awhile, Dearieme at HQ. I do not use DM for contacts … always en pleine on the timeline:

It’s kept at a certain “cocktail party” or out for a walk level, unless someone has trouble, e.g. Deryl’s hubby’s heart attack, in which case, many of us will kick in with support … same goes at HQ here … I’m not sure why it’s all important but it is … wondering if Andy’s ok at this point.

7. More on the blaze … it’s a definite “thing”

6. Warning from a youngster

Thursday [1 to 5]

(0523) Morning all … still dark. The sharp eyed might have noticed, Laze and Gem, that 1 to 5 these days is taking a lot to complete … this is because I’m also gathering, collating, posting at our other outlets, inc. X, doing correspondence. Purpose doing all that early is, just as with you, getting an overview of what’s happened overnight. (0636)

2. Main news is from downunder this morning

1. DAD at 1354

a) Alain Juillet, a veteran French intelligence figure who served as director of intelligence at France’s external intelligence service (DGSE) , has publicly stated that teams in power in Brussels do not hesitate to influence the course of elections in European Union member countries.

b) I found this ‘X’; I do not know if it is true – be careful. Péter Magyar (Tisza), the new Hungarian Prime Minister, drops a bombshell: This is Orbán’s policy… ONLY HARDER!!!  THE EU HAS BEEN TAKEN FOR A RIP-OFF!!! “We will maintain and strengthen the border fence. We’ll even repair the holes!”

c) Two brothers of Moroccan nationality, managers of several barbershops, are suspected of being at the heart of a large-scale migrant trafficking operation in the Tarn and Ariège regions.

d) France is facing record prison overcrowding. As of March 1st, prisons held 87,126 inmates for 63,353 places, representing an overall occupancy rate of 137.5%. In remand prisons, this rate reaches 168.4%….

e) A widely shared story by left-wing investigative outlet Correctiv in Germany, which claimed that at a “secretive” gathering ahead of the 2024 elections in Germany, several right-wing politicians and others discussed the possible deportation of two million migrants, was “plucked out of thin air”, according to a Berlin court.
