a) Northern Ireland made it illegal to pray in hospitals. This type of legislation [to protect women who were seeking an abortion from being harassed outside of abortion centres ] is rather widespread throughout the West and, though abortion opponents have pointed out that it violates free speech, has become more or less a default in progressive-run areas.
b) Traders on Polymarket are assigning roughly a one-in-six chance that former Hungarian prime minister Viktor Orbán will be arrested or detained before the end of 2026. The market reflects growing pressure after the new government led by Péter Magyar launched ‘Operation Purgatory’ and, more directly, the Ukrainian ‘gold convoy’ case, where prosecutors are examining whether Orbán had any role.
c) A biological man identifying as a woman who travelled to the Netherlands for refuge from the United States to escape discrimination has been interviewed by the Dutch television news show PowNews. He was placed in the refugee camp in Ter Apel, Netherlands.
d) Organisers of a right-wing protest have gone to court after the Mayor of Brussels banned a demonstration outside the European Parliament. The legal challenge was successful, so the organisers of the Save Europe Act campaign were able to hold their demonstration on Place du Luxembourg on Wednesday afternoon, July 15th.
