This week the Scotsman published a piece of mine asking whether Britain’s power grid would pass the safety test every North Sea oil platform must pass before it can operate. This is the background to that article: how a grid works, how it fails and why an engineer from a safety-critical industry is uneasy about ours.

a) France. Detention Centers overwhelmed: only 36% of Illegals expelled in 2025.

The figures expose the growing gap between government promises of more effective deportation procedures and the harsh reality on the ground, according to Valeurs Actuelles. Administrative retention centres, known as CRAs, are struggling with severe capacity shortages while bureaucratic and consular obstacles continue to slow the removal process.

b) UK. Robert Jenrick Reported to Police Over Islam Remarks

A British parliamentarian was referred to counter-terrorism authorities after stating that Islamification of Britain represents one of the greatest threats to the nation’s way of life.

c) Germany. BMW withdraws official-car offer to AfD state parliament president.

The company gave no reason, though German media have linked the move to the vote in Magdeburg.

d) EU. European Parliament urges terrorist listing for Muslim Brotherhood networks.

MEPs have asked capitals to hand over the evidence that would let the Council add Brotherhood figures and front groups to the EU terrorist list.

e) Over at NOWP.

No real drama to report across the pond

Toodles reports that they’re “doing well”, it moved more into Florida. The bureau says it hit 50 miles east of Pensacola so that’s a relief in a way for Pensacola. Heading for Bham but gradually losing power. 45 mph is what we get fairly often here. Yes I’m in a storm zone but it usually hits the back of the house obliquely here.

In other news:

As I type, there’s the noise of girls downstairs, screaming. From the noise, not young women but girls. Looking out, two of them by a wall across the road at 0339:

A young man in hoody approaches them. He seems to advise and moves on up the hill. The girls head down the hill, a third joins them, all screaming. They head back up the hill, into the light. Done up in modest finery, apart from the trainers. Quick estimate 14 years. One quite drunk.

Obvious question is why? Where are the fathers? Or in single parent houses or flats … where are the mothers?

They’ve gone now, that older young man telling them off.
