That theatened youtube doc from earlier

Thing is, good reader … what he says, his five points, are actually quite nail on the head … I did sit through it and they’re definitely points you might consider if planning to take on this ageing process.

What concerned me, and I don’t wish to inflame the Brit or youtube thought police, let alone that youtube doc … was that he hardly followed his own advice, looking at those shoulders and listening to that soft beta voice … I mean, it was hardly like these chaps below, was it?

I was pushed by my then gf in Russia to train at a gym … her notion was to get the paunch down to a six pack, whereas mine, and those of all the gym rats I met, was to beef up legs and upper body … a very useful thing as it turned out because decades later, losing muscle mass, circulation and overall functionality … it meant I had twenty years head start. So I thank my erstwhile darling for that, plus the new gf after the old left me and she was just as “with the plan”.

I am thinking, dear atheist readers, that maybe I was being kept alive by Someone Above. ✝️ian readers already know it was so.

Anyway, I digress. Were I to be asked what you should build up first, I instantly say quads and calves. Through biking, walking or training … do it! Talking chaps here … chapesses have a different regime to a fair extent.

The second is upper body … bis, tris, shoulders, neck. I’m well aware that there are other body parts but those are the ones to constantly hit.

All right, a trade secret … remember that, like Simon, I’m quite mad. I have no washing machine and want none either … they break, plus it involves dumping the old, broken ones … no thanks in 2026 Britain. So I handwash, even sheets, other bedding. In the bathtub sit two builders’ black buckets full of water and after each visit to the loo, one arm lifts a bucket out and it’s tipped in … much better than the (many times) breakable handle on the cistern. Then the other hand lifts out the other bucket.

That’s a useful number of lbs in each bucket … that’s ongoing biceps toning and it’s mightily useful for the upper body. As much done manually as possible, dear reader. Thinking no woman would put up with such eccentricities but the bod likes it and it means I can keep this blog up for our readers.

Last thing for now on’t … if you test those things the good youtube doc suggested and are found wanting … it’s not too late … also check out Steve at NOWP in his daily health advice. It really does help, reader, it really does. Also Sama Hoole screenshots now and then. Plus the X docs.

Sunday [1]

(0546) Not much sleep, sleeping in, dear reader, back around 0900 BST. (0929) Well half an hour late anyway. Explanation in Sun 1 below, chaps and chapesses. (0952)

Sunday morning ravings

Well well well … broken night which included Simon Templar saying to a lady who was reporting some dastardliness and for him to be careful, “Never mind, I’m really quite mad you know.” It also included my getting out of bed, no hands, and standing on one foot for over ten seconds (which I failed on the first attempt by the way but was ok on the second). 0320 that one was in the night.

It came from a suggestion by a youtube doc … you could tell he was a doc coz he had a beard, was wearing a regulation blue tunic and he spoke all doctorish. Going to run that YT between Sun 1 this morn and Sun 2 to 5, inc. DAD and Steve.

One other thing I failed to mention in my Sat 1 rant was “sense of humour” or at least of irony. Got up now to stumble about, opened this ipad and what do you know …

How ’bout that eh? Dearly beloved, an explanation I think I was in the process of giving you. Every so often, the heart decides to shut down operations … not at the heart itself but at various old, historical weak spots, e.g. that point in the throat which was hit during Covid or flu in Jan 2020, or in the left ear, the eyes, the gut etc. … the bod has its own sense of sick humour and hits each in turn … quite a familiar experience … sorted by moving about the place on my pins.

Plus a new one … sharp pain in right and left upper arms. Wonder if that could be my excessive consumption of folic acid cookies.

Anyway, up and about now, bod falls in line again, here I am writing at you and the sky looks bleah from here (he’s a poet and don’t know it … or sommit.) All of which is to say … welcome to Sunday, foljs … normal operations are on their way by elevenses.

Hope y’all having a wunnerful Sunday so far. “Foljs”? I thought you were “folks”, not foljs” but let it be that, good foljs … which incidentally is another post item later, about typo mistales (sic) all seem to be making these days.

Wreck and salvage law, 2012.

Definition of wreck

According to section 255 of the Merchant Shipping Act 1995, the definition of wreck includes “jetsam, flotsam, lagan and derelict found in or on the shores of the sea or any tidal water”.

Derelict describes property, whether vessel or cargo, which has been abandoned and deserted at sea by those who were in charge of it without any hope of recovering it.

The charge against Danny Tommo mentioned damage to a SHIP; and since the RIB had been abandoned, it becomes a Derelict Wreck.

The Defence have a week to study this aspect of Marine Law.

Sat Mat three

Still too early to do the final posting, also the vault is a bit empty just now … now I could run a film … too long, or a Templar … or these two episodes to see what you think. We’ve had the second already I think.

There’s just something about those early TV 26 min programs … a lot of fun do you think?

Saturday [1 to 5]

(0359) Not a good time, awake since 2 a.m., DAD drop coming up, need sleep. Back a bit later. (0402)(0759) Greetings again, chaps and chapesses. Main post of the day is now up at OoL and at Jstack. Have a good weekend. (0935)

a) England. Greens wiped-out in key Council as Tories surge ahead.

The Green Party lost its final Cotswold District Council seat to Conservatives this week, eliminating its presence after both councillors resigned.

b) USA. Danube Institute raises awareness about Christian Persecution around the world.

The Danube Institute has held a series of events about Christian persecution in the United States. Previously, the institute has also produced a research paper about the fate of Christians in Nigeria, based on a visit by a group of its researchers to the West African country.

c) Migrant Camp Found in Tunnels Under Ceuta University Campus.

Firefighters battling a blaze under a Spanish university campus in Ceuta discovered a makeshift migrant camp in underground tunnels with mattresses and evidence of prolonged habitation.

d) What will be the fate of decommissioned wind turbine blades?

‘According to some industry estimates, the decommissioning of wind turbines could generate around 43 million tonnes of waste from wind-turbine blades worldwide by 2050. This waste is expected to be distributed unevenly: 40 per cent in China, 25 per cent in Europe, 16 per cent in the United States, and the remaining 19 per cent in the rest of the world.’

e) UK. 83,279 small boat arrivals people since the 2024 election. This doesn’t include lorry arrivals or undetected boat arrivals.

But in the same period the UK granted … 1.58 MILLION non visitor visas for work, study, family and ‘other’ routes including dependants.

Oh and 196,975 people claimed asylum Shhh ….

21. We had a Seekers number earlier

I was planning not to run this one for specific reasons.

Firstly, it was Judith Durham leaving the group, which of course broke them up. There were the New Seekers and decades later, another farewell concert but it was really over this night below. Many of us thought it was just ambition on the part of JD but reading her tale, her Christian spirituality, which she said was in all her songs … I was thinking that with Another You … it made sense for her.

Second reason was the danger of tempting the metaphysical by playing a song with lyrics like these below … they’re intense and sad, they might portend, I’m hoping not. There’s too much finality for mine.

Thirdly, they were never really my style, that sort of Peter, Paul and Mary folk, a bit like straight country music … Southern country rock, yes, some of it was good. Yes, her voice was superb, no one’s arguing with that.

But the main reason I do not like listening to this song is it was from 1965 through to 1968 … it was mega but it included some incidents … one I’ve written about before. I’ve mentioned that for some decades, I was spending the middle of the decade in Oz, the ends in Britain. This was from a southern summer, maybe 66 or 67, maybe 68 and it involved a girl I restablished contact with a year ago now … we write to each other now … it was at the beach during the holidays somewhere then.

One evening, the beach was very quiet as usual … were this a landscape picture, it would look like this … the wide, sloping beach, with fairy lights would occupy the right third of the picture, the Bay filled the rest, bobbing boats. It’s dusk. Maybe 500 yards away, way over to the right, off picture up above the beach, is a carnival, an actual carnival with rides, a stage, the usual things.

Picture behind that a pier, one of the longest on that Bay, jutting out at rightangles to the shore, people on it, lights. The carnival is in a space near the start of the pier … across the main road behind that are the seaside entertainments, including the fish n chip shop I worked at.

We were trudging through the sand to get there … a few of us. The wind was fickle and every minute or so, the sound through the tannoys set up this side of the carnival but still distant was wafting back this way, then dying, then wafting back.

And yes … the song was the one below. It felt almost surreal even back then … total stillness apart from the fickle song. We had no idea whatever that the innocence of those days was also closing. It was also the end of our summertime … the whole thing was combining in a way I could not envisage that evening.

Yes we had fun at the carnival … my fave dodgem cars and the cha-cha ride … out in the wide world though, the ladylike innocence JD had given the world was about to be dirtied, drugged, the music far darker by 1968/9, so many sicko bands appearing, looking like something from a horror show. And this girl I correspond with now … she’d been there on that beach with me. That evening maybe not, maybe the following year. Her letter from that summer sits in a packet of letters two yards from me right now. Shan’t get it out again this evening.

Anyway, here tis:

The Seekers

This was possibly their earliest live TV:

The fundamental interconnectedness of all things (Douglas Adams). The presenter above is, I seem to recall, Graham Kennedy whose home was in Dromana on the Bay south of Melbourne, near some friends of ours called Rhodes, who were friends with others called Carnegie … getting the drift?

I once sailed my A Class around to Safety Beach, next to Dromana and won the race that day. Sometime later I came back here and stayed at first with a mate in Ammersmiff. We went to see The Great Rock n Roll Swindle at the Odeon.
