(1529) Heading for evening….
26. Forgive this last bin one for the evening

25. Just some notes
I’m thinking of running Penseivat’s piece on policing with mine on academia … I’d like to run it at UHC-WP, it being longish and personal, then signposted here.
There’s a second thread I was planning … the tale of my boat I was building and how far I could have got. It was too depressing by half, simply because, even with all formidable obstacles somehow got past, let’s say I did make it downunder … what then? Only certain graves and plaques down there now. It made more sense to head across to America after 2017 but of course, the heart issue stopped it. Canals here? Possibly.

(JH: Decided to run this in the main body of the posts page because it’s probably now crossed that line … at least should be openly looked at.)
More on the Kushner island purchase.
“Albania Riots are escalating as citizens demand the retraction of their President, giving Kushner and Ivanka Trump Sazan Island. In an attempt to defend the buy, Kushner gave an interview in which he ineptly named Nate Rothschild as the person who recommended the island to the couple. Simultaneously, Ivanka detailed accidentally finding Sazan island while boating with friends; “We discovered Albania’s Sazan Island by accident while on a friend’s boat. We stopped for a swim, and swam to the island and hiked barefoot to the top ….”
Sting in the tail 👇🏻
“And Kushner, may be hiding a deep secret: The rumor stems from a 2017 clerical error. Public records initially showed him registered to vote as female in New York. How often does that clerical error occur? Never.”
All this talk about being laden with bins has me in the dumps.
🫤
Ha ha!!
Some years ago I met a South African family. The father’s name was Ben (pronounced ‘bin’) and the son was called Bennet (pronounced ‘bin it’). It seriously took me quite a while to work out their true names! I literally called him Bin for a while…
Bin there, ladies, I need to dump the reference, skip it. Still half a dozen more tomorrow, ha ha.
I refuse to join in.
……
JH: Wise, Andy, wise.
Now you’re just bin silly 😜

Oh my goodness, IYE, that takes me back to my childhood. It was my younger brother’s favourite song for a while!
I can see y’all bin having a bin par tay’ while I had scooted off.
For a change, it was a perfect day down here. After so many days of torrential rain, along with the temperatures being ratcheted up to where H E double hockey sticks ( 🏒🏒) in comparison seemed chilly, today’s weather was perfect in every way 😁. So Cuddles left work early today, cause we are old and can do that!
We hit the links. Last time we hit them was this past September.
Cuddles did pretty well today actually. Yay! 🙌 🎉🥳 so happy for him. Moi? I played wonderfully and terribly. I duffed a few and then hit some really nice shots. And then there were others that were not as far as I hoped, but straight down the fairway. Oddly, my strength kicked in during my putting attempts. Did I absolutely become confused and imagine we were playing baseball instead?
Putting is – was at one time my strong suit. I still putted straight, but back and forth over the putting green went my little bright yellow ball! Sometimes that ball circled the cup and then traveled all over tarnation. It was much like the Pancake Man! Run fun as fast as you can…can’t catch me…
I scored the most points😽!
The score card? Where is it ? I will give you 3 guesses and the first two absolutely do not count — much like the several duffs on two or three tee-offs of only 9 holes (enough for me).
Soooooooo, the scorecard? I tossed that horrid #¥+<|}%~€< :”# € card •in • in • in • the B I N 🗑️ ! Of course!
I enjoyed the entertainment IYE. At first I was wondering about the fellas, but once my ears jived with their accents it was a jolly good time! . 🎻! A hootennanny!
IIsilme…. Bin and Binnet!😆 😂
Toods is referring to this song reply by IYE I think:

Toodles, a very important question here 🔽 😄

Thanks for the memories you two. Those were the sort of songs that us kiddies bounced up and down to back in the day.
IYE! Love the song!
I have had company and was busy before their arrival putting up all the projects I had gotten out this past week only to stuff them back in nooks and crannies again! Cooked up a few dishes and made a nice pie.
Only checking in here and there at the blog until this evening I find I have missed several posts, yours being one of them! It was a sort of reward for my busy couple of days.
Lonnie Donegan and his band singing about chewing gum on the poster bed…and various other places was a rib tickler. His concern is if it loses its flavour while it is stuck. That is one question that has stumped mankind for a several generations! 🤔🤨🧐. I shall exSpearmint and let you know!
That band is so entertaining. I love the banjo and the showmanship even if only listening I can tell the showmanship. If you could have only seen me doing a jig as I listened you would have been impressed, or perhaps depressed! 💃🏽🧑🩰
I was reminded of several occasions in which I disobeyed my mother’s rule about chewing gum after brushing teeth before going nigh nigh. I got away with it a number of times— even after blowing mammoth sized bubbles that popped covering my entire face. That is best done obviously using bubblegum gum!
Unfortunately, there was a fateful morning in which I got caught disobeying the ‘no bedtime gum rule,’ dead gum it! Upon waking I discovered that the huge wad of gum I had enjoyed only hours before had entangled and matted itself all through my fairly thick head of curls. Chewing gum and curls are like a solid marriage. Never shall the twain part.
As you might imagine, after getting chewed up one side and down the other by my mother and I in tears, by days end end I sported a rather cute pixie haircut!
If only I had stuck the big wad of gum on the bed poster!
😄 Was never much into chewing gum myself though I did compete with my Grandma once – who could blow the biggest bubble with bubble-gum. She won!
I discovered early on gum wasn’t edible so I stuck with toffee which was!
As Andy mentions, Lonnie was part of our childhood way back when.
IYE, not to belabor the chewing gum subject, but here I go extending an already much masticated topic. I was once told that gum chewers were unbecoming so most times if I did chew to liven up my mouth or mood, only a small piece was used. Also, cheapola me could make a minty pack last a while. I tried to be discreet and not chew like a cow. I wanted to be becoming I guess!
Admittedly, as a kiddo, if by some chance my pals and I decided to collect Coca Cola bottles for the refund and then walk up to the ‘drugstore’ for cherry cokes at the soda fountain counter and afterwards purchase bubble-gum with our collective earnings for a bubblegum blowing contest that was fun. Your grandma would have fit right in with us! What a fun grandma!!!
Cuddles and I had been married a number of years before I learned the man could not blow bubblegum bubbles. Immediately I bought several pieces for each of us and I taught him how to do it. Good student. We both must have lots of hot air!
We rarely, if ever, chew gum and really rarely ever did chew much. Even if we had a hankering to chomp chomp chomp who knows what that mess might do to our ‘been around for years and years’ pearly whites! However, if my Cuddles is ever challenged to a bubble blowing contest he will not embarrass himself, or moi!
Toffee is tops. I also really like caramels but only certain brands. In addition to eating the sweet and almost savory buttery candy, I have a wonderful desert dish that includes toffee. Oh it is just so delish and a big hit with guests and family too! I adore the caramel cake my children make for my birthday that comes just before Autumn. 😋
Lonnie being part of yours and Andy’s childhood, Isilme’s brother’s fave too must have been a rollicking good time.
His sound so reminds me of some of our music from the era down south, the bit of fun and a slight twang. It must be the essence.brought from the old country, what our people brought with them from England around 250 years ago! Also, as I mentioned Lonnie has so much showmanship. No doubt everyone around was cheered to a very high degree after watching/listening to him!
I am anxious to play it for my grandchildren. The bits of naughty is cleverly done and fun. It will pass right over their heads! I shall play for them the other piece you originally linked too.
They are homeschooled and fortunately are exposed to all sorts of music and many and varied ‘other things’ which is a blessing. James used to send fun music selections for them which I have saved — a large variety from classic to silly!
Although homeschooled they have classes here and there through the week. So not just momma input. Other teachers have a little input plus socializing is there. Mainly her classes if away from home are with families sharing similar values.
One class she attends is one that may have a few students with different values, a once a week class. My grandaughter has been exposed to an atheist child near her age. He is quite vociferous about it. It is a religion, Atheism. Intended or not they do their own type of mission work. That class is once a week and only for a month or two each semester and of course optional. It is good for her to have an idea of other people and how they think and behave. She will not be shocked out of her wits when she is older and meeting people unlike herself.
I am very proud of my daughter as she does so well with finding curriculum and wonderful activities to support units of study. She is really clever and insightful. She is thoughtful and intelligent about what she teaches and teaches well and has great follow up questions. She encourages stretching and exercising the brain. I have been a resource a time or two and so have been around her.
By now the oldest one, 8 years old is far above her age reading level. My daughter has to work hard providing quality and appropriate reading material for her. It is a challenge coordinating a reading level to a child’s chronological age and development. Just because she reads well did not mean she is grown-up.
Also both of those children at a young age are cooks and chefs. They measure and sometimes must learn how to substitute ingredients. Of course, they read the recipes and plan out their modest meals, make lists. By adult standards it is nothing extravagant, but still a great opportunity to learn and plan and do math. Cooking is something that we all need; food (meals) and planning.
I do a lot of cooking. I do force myself to follow a recipe at least once a week because it makes the brain focus. The creative side of me does better without recipes. After so so many years cooking, it is not such an outstanding ability to cook by the seat of my pants. My son-n-law wants me to write a cookbook called, By the Seat of My Pants! Now what kind of things would I include? Ummmmm welll when you look in the cupboard or the fridge and if you say…only have a stick of butter and 1/4 cup sugar, just eat it!
The g’children are creative too and write plays, stories, and the oldest is writing a book and illustrating it. I so wish they could be exposed to Isilme’s creations and activities, as she is very talented and inspiring. They would glean lots from her. Classes on line maybe, Is?
Well this took a turn. Life has been quite hectic here but I do catch up eventually with all the goings on here and the other sites. I cannot tell y’all how appreciative I am for UHC and the contributors, also at NOWP and OoL.
When given the chance I share in person what I learn and find here. It is a blessing to be able to use what y’all send in order to help others I meet. Hopefully, they will investigate for themselves. You would be surprised at the variety of people I run into and with whom I share. Mission Possible.
That is all (cough) — for now!
I am behind on Penseivat’s long. Hope to catch up tomorrow!
