This is the lady who climbed the steps of a courthouse and held out the Union Flag, only to be arrested … a feisty gal to be sure.

“While everyone is talking about RAF Fairford, something else happened on 28 September that I think deserves some attention.

The Government has reopened the UK Resettlement Scheme.

Around one in four referrals are expected to be Afghan women and girls and Palestinian refugees. AMAZING

And those accepted through these safe and legal routes will have a five year pathway towards permanent settlement in Britain.

The Government says the scheme will be capped and controlled.

Fine.

But where is the debate about this?

How many people will ultimately be brought here?

Where will they be housed?

Who pays for that housing and support?

What will the long term cost to the taxpayer be?

And what checks are being carried out before people arrive? and how many more can they bring over ?

These aren’t unreasonable questions.

You can believe people fleeing war and persecution deserve protection while still asking what the impact will be on the people already living here. whilst they’re living in what we’re told are Third World conditions, our own country feels like it’s heading in the same direction.

The Government has reopened this scheme while Parliament is in recess and while the country is completely focused on the RAF Fairford story.

I’m not saying there’s a connection.

I’m saying look at what else is happening.

Because important decisions don’t stop being important just because another story dominates the headlines.

Question everything.”
