5. It’s not a feted text

… and yet, afa I can see, it’s very well researched and it lists receipts:

One reason I keep it around for loo visiting etc. is that it is hardback and most of my other texts are either paperback and falling apart, boring or both.

Was delighted to see much of that info, plus more, included here:

There is a lot of reading there if you’re prepared to follow the various links … which does put it at odds somewhat with IYE’s MM => classic case of hey … let’s lay it all on the table, everything we have … step back, sip our beverage and think it through.

a) England. Manchester City: A Scandal That Could Bring Down Andy Burnham? Abu Dhabi helped rebuild Manchester, but on what terms? Now its football club’s guilty verdict threatens the man who took the credit as further revelations about his involvement emerge.

b) France. ‘We could have had a massacre’ – French MEP demands attempted murder charge after protesters burn police station and block exit. “It’s a criminal act of extreme gravity; we could have had a massacre,” MEP Matthieu Valet wrote. “The perpetrators must be found and prosecuted for attempted murder.”

c) Belgian Right-Wing Politician beaten by Moroccan mob at Antwerp City Hall. Belgian right-wing politician Filip Dewinter was left bleeding after being assaulted by members of a Moroccan wedding party at Antwerp City Hall, where he was grabbed by the throat, shoved against a wall and struck repeatedly. Police intervened to restore order, while Dewinter described the attack as another example of intimidation against politicians challenging mass immigration.

d) Germany. AfD Surges to 40 Percent in Another East German State. The Alternative for Germany party has surged to 40 percent support in Brandenburg while the Christian Democrats collapsed to single digits in a new poll showing dramatic political realignment.

e) ‘We did not follow your insane migration policies’ – Slovak MEP Mazurek says “Slovakia and Poland avoided mass crime, ‘student’ riots, and sexual attacks by rejecting Western European immigration policies.” Large riots with arson and attacks on police in high-immigration districts, including France’s ongoing 2026 school unrest that led to thousands of arrests, have no equivalent scale in Polish or Slovak cities.

1. Some near escapes

Last evening, I was searching for this lady I thought had been in the eye of the storm, had heard nothing since in X:

This morning, her footage:

We too here had a storm … yesterday, I went downstairs, not even knowing, and in the bin area, the bins were tipped over, other debris all around.

We get flash storms here. On Friday, I was downstairs, waiting for a delivery which was late. It was sunny around 1030. Within minutes, a front came through from the north-west, driving rain, floods of it … even down my water-resist jacket, drenched, cap soggy, had to retreat behind our lower front door.

By the time the driver arrived, it was all over, sun was back out. Phoned my mate or vice-versa, can’t remember … he’d been inside a mile or so away, completely unaware of the storm.
