24. Something to tide us over till tomorrow

Always liked this one, maybe the exotic setting … I had quite an adventure myself in Geneva too … or rather on the boat going there.

22. Andy

Just a few days ago the ukulele comedian assured us that he had nothing to do with the destructive pipework, absolutely nothing. We all know different, here’s some more information from the waPo.

… in particular the second half, to be blunt about it.

17. Vox on an economist talking out of turn

“What we can expect over the coming years is a concerted effort, led by part of the mainstream community of which The Economist is merely the vanguard, to devalue Acemoglu’s reputation, not so much on technical grounds as on account of his political “eccentricities.” As we have seen, this is not the first case and probably will not be the last, but the underlying logic has been in place for a very long time. The aura of respectability within the mainstream economics community depends both on technical foundations (with a high degree of mathematical sophistication, which makes the work largely inaccessible to the general public) and on the “reasonableness” of one’s political conclusions.”

    • I relaxed with one PT y/day afternoon. One I had forgotten about – The Gilbert affair/ mystery. One of the advantages of getting older and the memory not being as sharp is forgetting the endings! 😀 It’s like listening for the first time all over again.

      ……

      JH: Say that again?

  1. Re #21 – I can’t believe there’s anyone who hasn’t heard about the Digital Switch Over. It’s been widely publicised for several years, and the “final” date has been put back more than once…

  2. 23. Andy! – ‘the ukulele comedian’
I am still almost as gobsmacked he is puppet in chief (winky wink) as I still am that J Buhbyedumb was our 2 xs VP and then not long after became, by hook or crook, the biggest puppet of all!

Back when Buh first ran in the 80’s I thought no way will he ever become (fill in the blank…street sweeper, dog walker, ice cream dipper upper) ________! Well, throw me to the wolves on that call !

I saw Ukulele (along with another idiot) play the piano with his organ..
Fortunately, my view was from his backside, if you can call that a fortune. Truly it all was a curse.

To make the situation worse is that the audience was filled with laughing heinous! Lapping it up!

To continue the pathetic saga is that I viewed the clip. Even if it was a 30 second clip it has tainted my sense-of-well-being. Added on to that I am sharing the wretched experience and thereby reliving it all over with YOU! Please forgive🙏?

    Out out damn creep!

    • While I was burrowing in that rabbit hole I saw that clip too, simply awful. There was another one where he was taking the Mickey out of Putin, while Putin was in the audience! How things have changed, or not. Putin is still a president, the other is still a comedian but no-one is laughing.

      • ‘Andy!
Putin is still a president, the other is still a comedian but no-one is laughing.’
You are darn tootin about Putin and the what it is you called Z. A comedian?

The silly thing had to READ his entire script! I just about had it memorized after only one smelly viewing.

        10. Friday. Moo-
Really enjoy your the photos with which you gift us!
The one of the children in the alley being proud is a delight! The lads are adorable as are all. It is just that the boys banded together with arms proudly across their chests with big grins.
I can just imagine how they planned their poses not too long before the shot was taken! They are impishly grinning.

Also, I notice all are having fun but no one is trying to outshine or call attention to themselves more than any snapshot does. It was a together pic!

Oh, there is a blur child. That would have been my 2nd child. She was never still long enough to be anything but a blur😑🤭.

  3. 20 Is that Chris Packham’s mum? If so, she has much to answer for.

    ……

JH: Wonder if she had Asperger’s too.

  4. 18.Would BCC still support that maximum sentence, or any sentence at all, if it was a Palestinian or Iranian flag flown from lampposts?
