Tuesday [11 till close of play]

18. I have a request of readers

There’s a girl on X and she’s one of the ones I think in the report. She asked how she could publish her story … yes, typical case of what we’ve seen. I promised I’d ask our readers on the blog.

Thing with me is I can instapublish a story here or make a new blogpage anytime … easy enough but that’s not what is needed. I also had my own tale, Masquerade, looked at by commercial publishers, different thing again. I also know about Leggy.

Thing is though that I’ve never self-published in the sense readers understand, e.g. Kindle, whatever.

There are also security implications … for her, for me, for us here. There needs to be a female intermediary in this too, e.g. Sammy W, or Katie. Thinking overnight on’t.

17. I’ve asked this before but anyone know Mike’s sister’s name?

15. The boys are right on top of the topic

14. Summertime … and the living is … easy?

12. Just love this, however accurate it is

… or is not …

I know two on the 29th and two on the 7th … one of the latter is Queen Bess. I say nuffink y’hear! Nuffink!

11. The betrayal of Brexit by the political class, under the deep state

The Brexit referendum was on this day in 2016 and the wrongdoers above tried everything to rig it. Having failed, mainly due to the north, the various PMs ensured Brexit never properly happened, the traitors.

Cameron’s promise:

  1. 18 – publishing. Yes, leggy. But maybe also DM Longrider who now has his own small coterie of self published works.

  2. 15. The boys are right on top of the topic – indeed, I was a engineering craft apprentice in 1976 and it did go over 100°F during the day. I’ll explain how I know. After a few incredibly hot days late in June the Union (AEW) approached management after several fainting episodes on the shop floor – these were skilled blokes working machines. They pointed out the dangers but excepted there was no upper limit at that time under the Health and Safety at Work Act.

A day after the first meeting management agreed to half day working when the temperature exceeded 98°F by 10 o’clock. It did so 6 times over the following fortnight. Apprentices were excluded from the agreement because we were indentured to the company. They let us go home anyway. Yippee! We got free orange and lemon lollipops as well 🙂 Oh, and the roads melted; corrugated-iron roofs popped; power lines over the heath burst into flames and a few older folk died in the heat round my way.

It was fucking hot in ’76.

    • I was on a canal holiday that summer, the water levels were so low that we frequently waited at locks to double up with another to go through. Twice we were asked by owners of moored boats which were left high and dry to release some water from the lock above. Our slow progress meant that we could not return the boat where agreed and needed to get a train back home.
It was as hot as you say Steve.

  3. 14. I remember that for WINTER 1963.

    12. I’m a 27th, It’s a shame for you not to see me.

    ……

    JH: Absolutely, DAD.

    • This list must be complete BS as my sister is a 27 and you should be grateful that you can’t see her. Believe me I am being as gracious as I can be.

  4. 14. I remember it well. We were living in Ashton-under-Lyne at the time and my Grandad filled up his car with bottles of “Preston pop” as we called it – tap water in cleaned out Corona lemonade and dandelion and burdock bottles – and brought it over to us along with water treatment tablets in case we had to use stand pipes. There was also a bread shortage due to strikes so Grandad brought us flour and yeast too. Never went short while Grandad was around. Still miss him.

It is effin’ hot here at the moment. Hotter than A-u-L in ‘76!

  5. Mikes sister was Sandra. She popped off a few years ago thanks to our wonderful NHS during Covid.

    ……

    JH: 🤔
