Wednesday [8]

(1502) Wot … already? Saw some drops from Andy, Steve, Juan, Doonhamer … I’ll catch up, boys, asap, ok? Meanwhile, this film before it disappears. Not a Christmas film, though the message resonates.

This, to me, is not just some retro, nostalgic look back … in the sense that I was a kid like one of the cast when I saw it and thought the film gripping, plus it had been my choice to watch, not that of my parents.

Today I can look back and still say it’s a pretty classy film for the time.

  1. This is another that was remade and the remake was OK to watch if you are a modern day sci-fi fan and don’t think much. The film makers thing that you can put in special effects and there were some good ones and that justifies the remake. It doesn’t so it was obviously visually better than the old one but utter shite.

There are many films like that and some have been remade more than once. Spiderman for example, how many conflicting origin stories can you get that are roughly the same. These guys egos are such they think their way is better.

At least, from the sound of it, woke is on its way out and we can get back to some macho films, Perhaps a new Bond, with the right male, straight and white character as written by Ian Fleming. If they want different they can write their own like Robert Ludlum did with Jason Bourne. How about Modesty Blaise, the O’Donnell series has several books. These useless films rely on the history of the original and people assume it will be the same or better and discover utter shite. I only recollect a few remakes or even sequels that are better or as good as the originals. The Fast and Furious franchise springs to mind.

Bring back decent firms. Get rid of the woke crowd in hollywood. Although it looks like the Epstein scandal will help with that over the next few years.

    ……
