  1. You’ll recall the Royal Navy Merlin helicopter that crashed near Sourton, Devon on the 3 June, killing all three on board? So sad but then I read in the paper about the state the Royal Navy’s Merlin helicopter fleet, and it ain’t good. Same old same old. It comes down to not having enough again so no reserve which means each one is worked hard and breakdowns are common. The fleet is unreliable. On top of that pilot/crew training is rushed to meet schedules that are unrealistic thus compromising safety. Flight Lieutenant Lily-Mae Fisher was on her final flying assessment over Sourton Down the night she died. Filmed last year here she is having a chat with former SAS soldier Phil Campion:
