(0515) We’re faced, this Saturday morn, with a plethora of US news, mainly due to the midterms being 11 days away, some Brit news, around privations and arrests, plus some Canadian/Albertan news. Thinking the way to proceed is run the Brit headlines at Orphans, some American at Jstack, the bulk of the American at HQ for this a.m. dotted throughout the day.

On Friday, October 23, a man opened fire in a series of shootings in Trappes and La Verrière (Yvelines), killing one person and wounding five others. The National Anti-Terrorism Prosecutor’s Office (PNAT) has taken up the case.
“This is clearly a terrorist act; it is an extremely serious incident,” stated Interior Minister Laurent Nunez, who visited the scene. The mayor of Trappes, Ali Rabeh (Génération.s), denounced the event as “an attack with racist—likely Islamophobic—overtones.” “This is arguably one of the first instances—a first attempt at a mass crime—with Islamophobic and racist connotations,” the mayor added, calling for “republican harmony.”
Ahead of Emmanuel Macron’s visit to Trappes on Friday evening, the Élysée Palace described the tragedy as a “racist terrorist attack.”
[I assume that the shooter is white, Why? Because of the instant cry of terrorism. It’s strange that immediately a white on black crime is “terrorist”, but black on white is not.]
