Yes, it was fun. Like you, I’ve been through a few eclipses but the most exciting night sky was seeing Halley’s Comet … that was really something, we were in the countryside. Plus we still believe we saw a UFO off the coast of North Yorks. Everyone agreed it was not just a trick of the light.

I dug out my old welding mask, and gave the lens a clean. Still an unmolested sun down here.
We watched the eclipse through a colander to avoid eye strain.🌞 Went dark for a short while and the birds thought it was bedtime so was eerily quiet. Not much to write home about. Better experience back in 1999 when we watched it with a few hundred others in the services on the motorway.
I watched the eclipse through a sweetie wrapper! I had been using a pair of binoculars to beam the eclipse on to a piece of paper. However, my beloved came out with two chocolate eclair sweet wrappers. Just the wrappers. He said he had to quickly eat the sweets. Both of them. Still, I know where the Thornton’s chocolates are and he doesn’t, so two of them are mine now.
Anyway, the wrappers, being mylar film type stuff let us see the eclipse quite happily in a rather fetching shade of purple.
