1. Is the dam in #8 meant to be facing the wrong way? It wouldn’t need any interference from malign actors to collapse if the walls were in tension, instead of compression.

2. Lovely day again out there, 27°C and little or no breeze here in Poole. Thoroughly enjoyed the stag party last night, which started at a pool table – best of three games. My team lost. We were in one of those villages lost in time. Seven pubs to crawl, the best last: situated next to a river, a giant weeping willow falling over a huge rear pub garden. Must have been 300+ patrons outside. Live music from a highly competent prog-rock band with a female lead vocal – blew the minds of the Gen Z folk there when they finished the set with this..

     JH: First two Rush songs I’ve ever knowingly heard. Looked them up … Canadian band from 1968. Uh huh.

     Real puzzle to me, this, and have been trying to sort it out. They were huge in the States it seems, in parts of the UK and Europe. Hmmmmm … I was downunder in the middle of the decade and it was never knowingly airplayed … maybe on album charts. Apparently, there was someone called Peart who could wield the drumsticks.

     Strangely, another Canadian band we knew was Steppenwolf … get yer motor running, head out on the highway.
