Monday [11 to 15]

(1046) Greetings late morning … typical Monday, wash and delivery, housework, cooking day, with one added extra … not well again. Fine this morning, then usual routines … one of them has set me back … but which one? A bit of self-diagnosis needed. Eased by the up and downstairs exercise. Oh well. (1108)

    • x = 100. Not as easy as yesterdays but just simple addition and subtraction until you got the one you needed.

For those that are struggling to start. A line through another line has the same angles reflected on the other side. So the 70 at the top reflects through to the main triangle. Then 75 + 70 from 180 = 35 so that triangle is complete.

The bottom line is now 35 + 65 from 180 which is 80.

As the line on the right goes straight through the reflection again gives 80 at the bottom left. 180 – 80 gives 100.

    • Subtended angles is something I became familiar with as a forward observer in the Royal Artillery. You’ll recall from your time in the services what 1 mil subtends at 1000 metres, James. When your technology fails or you lose your kit in combat you have to do a lot of things the old way – that’s why they still teach it at the School of Artillery, Larkhill.
