My under-reaction might be due to late July/early August traditionally being what we once called the blog Silly Season, a term coined or co-opted by Man in a Shed (see Brolls). It takes a lot of work to put together those posts at NOWP and if our chaps are to take a hiatus, which I’m hoping it amounts to, then this is probably the best time now. Dearieme used to zip off somewhere in the first weeks of September.

Last year, we (backend and frontend) ditched windows and I hardly use the old laptop … I did go in two days ago to look around … going nicely but only because I’m using LAN, not WiFi … there are too many variables these days we rely on, from megacompanies taking over to our reliance, in the end, on a tenuous satellite link.

5. Let’s get religious for a moment
Yes, I know that nothing’s taught kids any more about the Triune God, that sometime late in WW2, belief started to fall away, it fell away further during Boomer times, e.g. around Woodstock, even in the 50s, certainly with Gen X, then godless Millennials … and also look how the relatively safe peacetime west fell away, to become as it is now.
But let’s hypothesise for now that there actually is a Christian, Triune God, who was once a Jewish God but the various tribes fell away into ritualised law and Talmud, whited sepulchres rather than … well let’s just note that there was a general belief about … there was a peacetime calm as well.
