(0535) Morning all, good time to get going … spring cleaning under way here too, as well as posting and med things. Hoping you’re ok under this gloomy, total poisoned cloud sky. ((0619)
5. “Data Centres” or something far more sinister?

3. Some housekeeping
… meaning blog-procedural things, cyber-issues, patrons’ and readers’ health etc:
Just repeating that this first post of the day is fairly important each day, not just for me … it’s signalling the state of play to quite a few people. Later, I do similar on X and at Orphans, just see that things are ok, explore if not or read and follow up. I said to IYE that I’ll mainly do his vast copy backlog Friday morn when there’s some peace … second of two busy days today. If I don’t expound on our health, forgive … as long as I note it … lurgy, back home again after being displaced and so on.
Saw Steve say he was voting Reform. A few said that on X, calling it the “least worst” option. No it ain’t … the expression please is “least bad”.
Then an op ed of sorts which is for all those outside matters … politics, WW III etc:
Elections day across Britland today, not all councils having voting. The ballroom is big news across the pond, I’m about to get up to speed on all this once the tea’s made. Have bought new perc coffee for later.

a) EP committee upholds immunity of German EPP MEP in alleged fraud case resembling [that of] Le Pen. Yesterday’s votes mean Niebler is shielded from proceedings for the time being…
b) European Officials scaremongering to keep Britain in the ECHR.
c) France moves to break encrypted messaging. France’s parliament just endorsed the one idea every cryptographer on earth has already debunked and they’re calling it a compromise.
d) Christian YouTubers prosecuted for criticizing Isl@mic @ntisemitism in Germany.
e) ‘How was she allowed to die?’ Family’s fury after ‘healthy’ woman died by euthanasia at Swiss clinic – as they call in police.
1. Not sure if this Ashleigh Gleeson
… at the paywall Geelong Advertiser downunder is a journo or the orthopaedic surgeon (retired) mentioned in the opening blurb. Think this young lady is a journo.
“There’s a new weight loss drug that people are injecting in Australia. In a concerning trend, doctors say they are seeing patients – including ones who are “skinny” and even unknowingly pregnant – taking a peptide called retatrutide. Shockingly, it isn’t even approved for use yet or legal to buy, but it is being sold on unregulated websites that claim it’s for “lab use”. As plastic surgeon Kelly Thornbury says: “From speaking to my patients they didn’t understand what they were taking, they thought it was like buying a supplement from Chemist Warehouse. This is not a supplement, this is a medication that may be contaminated.” Retatrutide is a triple agonist drug, meaning it activates the GLP-1 hormone (like Ozempic and Wegovy) along with GIP (like Mounjaro) and glucagon receptors. We asked scientists to examine one retatrutide vial being sold online. They have raised doubts that the product is what it claims to be and warn it could be harmful or toxic. See why here.“
Uh huh. I’m running it first here as it’s the first cab in the email sidebar and I don’t wish to store it, retrieve later etc. My eye is looking out for DAD right now. Yesterday, he was just past 0330, today not yet. Not to worry, he just appeared in ticker.
Late today.
I had a problem with my back – it did not want to get off the bed, I was ‘snug as a bug in a rug’.
……
JH: DAD, don’t blame you in the least. Hope you’re kicking again.
Also on Thurs 5:
Not all their plans are running smoothly.
