Definitely not normal to have fog for any length of time in these parts. Certainly unknown in this locale. Bright sunshiny day today. Warmish too. Good day for gardening.
……
JH: Not even the teensiest weensiest bit of misty fog?
There’s mist in Autumn occasionally but that usually rises upwards and is burnt off after as the sun gets up. This stuff is a thick blanket descending. Had to drive through it for maybe 2-21/2 hours visibility 100-150 yds as DAD pointed out y/day. There was something in it that irritated eyes, nose and throat. There was a slight odour which I am at a loss to identify. Wasn’t smoke. Couldn’t stop as that would’ve meant lingering in it longer than we did. No escape.
Residual effects – sore throat, runny eyes, burning sensation in the nose and a tightness in the chest and now a cough. Overall feeling spaced-out. Definitely something’s up. Dosed up by friendly pharmacist with a slew of lozenges, nasal sprays and eye drops. my contribution was a bottle of rum with or without hot water and lemon.
Re my ‘Foggy Morning’ photograph from yesterday.
No fog this morning; the first for eight days. The very slight breeze during that period was from the N or NE; today it is from the SE.

JH: Ta for that.
