Friday [18 till close of play]

(1607) That was a good episode of The Persuaders, about to look at Grifty. Quite a bit to take in today.

26. Steve and war room

Different format at HQ to at 886:

Jack Posobiec: Biden And Administrative State Are Attempting To Create Colossal Crisis For Trump To Bear | MTG Demands Investigation Into The Unwarranted Escalation Of Foreign Conflicts By Biden White House | Bombshell: Ashli Babbitt’s Murderer Was Promoted Following The Unjust Shooting, John Solomon Reports | Karli Bonne Calls Out Fox News For Subverting Trump’s Nomination And Attempting To Install Haley

25. Isilme

Now, with all this threat of world war three and nuclear bombs and such, I’m surprised we haven’t followed Sweden’s lead and issued information of what to do on such an occasion. However, help is at hand. I still have the leaflet issued in the 1970s, showing how to protect yourself from a nuclear blast. I have the whole leaflet, but feel one part at least ought to be put up on the blog (even if it’s been seen before) because people might need time to gather all the necessary bits and pieces. I mean, people might have trouble locating their asbestos sheets and I wouldn’t want them to be caught unawares…. Our main problem is finding a spare bit of wall, but probably if we buried ourselves in the middle of my craft room, we’d do okay!

24. Kassandra as well on the psycho

23. Let’s not get our hopes up too high

22. More on the psycho

21. IYE at 886

… with Greenwald.

20. DAD’s gone bananas at 886

A banana taped to a wall, the work of Italian conceptual artist Maurizio Cattelan (whose other work is an effigy of John Paul II on the ground struck by a meteorite), was bought for $6.2 million by a Chinese-American entrepreneur in New York, at the auction house of Sotheby’s. The price went from $800,000 to $5.2 million, or $6.2 million with fees.

Also this by Mel … not advertising it, think we need to read it and decide how to react.

IYE end of week theatre

Last episode at HQ for awhile but of course, there are plenty more if you care to run down the list at the end of the link:

HERE

Some notes from lil ole me:

As you know, we run mainly Brit and US news and features here, with some France, Europe in general, then further afield. I always felt the casting and the attitude of Lew Grade a bit puzzling at times.

In short, though Tony Curtis was a major actor … well, for a start, he was no Clint Eastwood or John Wayne beside Roger Moore, plus the scriptwriters often had him playing second fiddle … did they think the series would cut it in America?

It was a bit iffy at best, plus the overt sexism, even for that year, for example in this episode where Moore’s approach to romance was to put his hand on her knee … well, let’s just say it’s not my idea of courtship.

Grade? His heart was clearly not in it, though the locales were costing him a mint.

Plots? A bit hammy but not too bad … Greensleeves was one of the better regarded.

Overall? Good, esp. for a rainy/snowy day, plus the femme fatale in each case was a major plus … generally.

Ladies at lunchtime

Firstly, to the gals … a thousand apologies … I’d love to run four muscular dudes for you, just to be fair, but I’m not gonna … yuk, I’m a boy, all right?

Now, to our boys … talk about embarrassment of blondes … eight of them, from whom I must choose four, the other four being the Monday coming.

Recognise any?

Friday [8 to 11]

(1058) Here’s the cunning plan, chaps and chapesses … a polit-burst now (huge backlog in pipeline) … Ladies at Lunchtime around noon and a hot crop today … then another polit-burst inc. Isilme (yep, politics), plus an IYE double … then a last (for now) Persuaders with my take on the series … then politics till close of play at around 1700 … at least, that’s the plan.

Quiz? Nothing ready, might have to be tomorrow. (1122)

11. US politics again

Note well:

10. More Brit politics, then back to US

“From race audits (into 130 aspects of life no less) to transgenderism, which she and her Equalities Ministers promoted, to hate crime, May pushed a poisonous rhetoric driven by the ideology of identity politics.

Today, and once more with the full backing of the BBC, he noted, the Labour Government is intensifying its attack on dissenters from its Islamist/communist and DEI missions. In fact not a week passes without the BBC fuelling this dystopian culture or encouraging so called ‘victims’ to press their complaints in what can only be described as a targeted tyranny.

As David said to me in his email, almost everything he warned about ‘has now come to pass in spades’.”

6. This one’s behind a pseudonym, Torsten Prochnow

Please note IYE in comments just now … now, this is what Torsten wrote:

“Good points. Honestly, I’m a bit surprised to see Pam Bondi nominated as Donald Trump’s replacement for Matt Gaetz as Attorney General of the United States. While she was certainly on the radar or long list, she wasn’t on my short list. Like many observers, I would have expected Trump to select someone like Ken Paxton or Andrew Bailey, who are more closely aligned with his vision for the law and the Department of Justice strategies he likely envisions.

Pam Bondi is undeniably a solid choice. As a former Florida Attorney General and a staunch supporter of President-elect Trump and the MAGA movement, she brings significant legal and political experience to the table. However, despite her close alignment with Trump’s policies and her prominent role in his campaigns, I would categorize her as more of an establishment Republican compared to anti-establishment figures like Matt Gaetz.

Gaetz, for example, could be seen as a bulldozer—someone prepared to take aggressive action to clean house. Bondi, on the other hand, may adopt a more measured and less confrontational approach, particularly in holding individuals accountable for the politically motivated lawfare and cases that have defined the past four years. Her tenure as Florida’s Attorney General from 2011 to 2019 solidifies her reputation within the traditional Republican establishment.

This may leave some of Trump’s strongest supporters feeling a bit underwhelmed, as many expected a tougher, more aggressive choice to match the boldness of Trump’s mandate, especially following his trifecta win.

That said, I’m not suggesting she won’t excel in the role. This appointment could mark a turning point in Bondi’s career. As the saying goes, responsibility often drives growth. And with this opportunity, she has the chance to prove herself and become the strong force for justice that many envisioned in Gaetz. It’s only fair to give her the chance to rise to the challenge and reserve judgment until her actions speak for themselves.”

Yes, it may well turn out to be a cunning move … plus he needs DeSantis looking towards the future. Very much like the tone here:

5. Draino on Pam Bondi

“Here’s why I like Trump’s new AG pick Pam Bondi. Not only is she experienced, but I look at where someone stands during times of difficulty. When Trump was being impeached for the perfect Ukraine phone call, Pam was brought in to defend him as legal counsel. Not only was that a courageous move by her, but she also won the case. When it was unpopular to stand with Trump, Pam stood strongly beside him. She’ll make a great US Attorney General.”

Woman v man as choice as head of something … man always has that third leg problem, always has a sexual past (if he’s a man). Woman also does, e.g. Harris, but it does not empower the opponent as much. Plus women are great on specific tasks, e.g. rooting out evil. Achilles heels are still babies, plus being susceptibility and peripheral vision. Then again, DJT was not so hot on that in 2016. 🍿🍿🍿

https://twitter.com/UKAAAA30/status/1859747466117251541

Phew. I’m sighing because I trust certain women too, implicitly, and the ones letting me down were just in sexual history. Plus so-called “mates” are the ones who’ve backstabbed me in the past. Against that is the sharp pitbull way of a man, ultrafast, useful, plus the methodical way of a woman if on a case, otherwise she’s all over the place juggling multitasks, not attending to any one. Again: 🍿🍿🍿

4. Classic case of unnamed sources

Problem was … the bringer to Gab was behind a pseudonym, then it was “one individual”, there was no back data, plus the tags were “eugenics” etc., so belief grouping a known known.

None of which says it’s wrong but the opposition also table reports with sientifik fakts, e.g. on the hockey stick, can’t remember the mann’s name.

So … what should a wary pundit do? Leave it alone, bypass, skip? Or post, warning readers just to shelve it for now, retrieve it later if similar appears sonewhere else?

3. Who’s this mysterious Pam Bondi

… whom Stonewall Jackson speaks of?

“Pam Bondi could very easily name Matt Gaetz Special Prosecutor or Special Counsel, giving him the same unlimited powers of the DOJ, that Robert Mueller was given. The only difference is Mueller was looking for crimes that didn’t exist, against someone with nothing to hide and no skeletons in his closet. . Gaetz wouldn’t have that problem, as he would be investigating actual criminals, with a lot to hide, and enough skeletons to fill a war zone cemetery.”

Bondi? Beach in Sydney, Oz, is it not? Ah, scroll down … the opposition’s AP:

“NEW YORK (AP) — Pam Bondi, the former Florida attorney general, was chosen Thursday by Donald Trump to serve as U.S. attorney general hours after his first choice, Matt Gaetz, withdrew from consideration after a federal sex trafficking investigation and ethics probe made his ability to be confirmed dubious.

The 59-year-old has long been in Trump’s orbit and her name had been floated during his first term as a potential candidate for the nation’s highest law enforcement role.”
