Amanda Knox revisited

The two topics at this blog (meaning all versions of it, stretching back) which incited, attracted, caused, the greatest amount of comment, positive, negative, trolling, also involving non-regulars out there involved in the cases … were the “pizza” issue which I’ll revisit if anything new comes up but it’s developed its own legs now, thank goodness, and new cases are appearing all the time, i.e. are being exposed.

A few months back was the reconviction of Knox, twice convicted of the murder of Meredith Kercher on November 1st, 2007, once cleared and once just let off and scarpered back to West Seattle. This though was not the murder but the slander, accusing an innocent man of the murder.

It’s one case I’ve no intention of arguing over with anyone who has not read almost all trial notes from the first two convictions, translated from the Italian. There’s good reason for this.

And the only site still in existence on the issue which has a team of Italian lawyers, plus Italian-English translators, is TJMK. If they take a certain line, these Americans, British, other English speaking, plus Italian, plus of course Meredith’s own family … I had a emailed with her father at one time … if they take a certain view, it’s a result of reading the entirety of the evidence over the years.

The awkward thing for me here is that our politics at Unherdables are antiWoke but many of these people involved in the case, apolitically … well it’s all been pro-victim Meredith, apolitical … once they see our polit-posts here, then they feel bound to show their own left-liberalism … society is now so polarised … and further dealings become muddied, impossible. Pity.

And the ones most for Knox have been the ruling class, Tories, GOP, the official right, plus a few of the dissident right, my own people so to speak.

What’s happened?

In June this year, Knox was reconvicted by a court of appeal in Florence on the slander charge, not the murder, after so, so long and as this is all about legal niceties which you’ll find at that link, I’m going to avoid as many of these as possible in this post and just give a summary.

It was a procedural matter, legalistic, after the ECHR … yes, that very same lot, whom Italy considers erred … got involved, making errors … so Italy reopened it, Knox actually flew to Florence and did a few strange things which this screenshot touches on:

Some of you might recall that she accused her boss at the time in a cafe, a black man, of the murder, by means of “flashbacks” where she dreamed, “reimagined”, where she answered on the stand that “my best truth is” and as part of that, she said she met Lumumba (the boss) in a carpark, at the house and part of that was that she and witnesses heard Meredith’s screams. Yet she also claimed she was never at the house during the murder.

The other side … the US legal machine, plus some unherdables themselves … insist that no DNA of Knox was found in the murder room, though evidence at trial suggested that MK was dragged in there after the initial deed. There was Knox DNA in other parts of the house, also Sollecito’s on MK’s bra strap, plus all sorts of anomalies, inc. the taking of DNA, which actually cuts both ways.

This is the point where I become blunt … I’ll not discuss it with anyone who has not read both translated trial reports … coz we have.

Long story short … she was reconvicted on the slander in June this year, for which she’s already served some time in an Italian jail, and it seems has until October 8th to appeal … 19 days ago. I’m still waiting to read or hear about that.

Next?

Well that depends on Italy … they certainly want her inside but the big issue there is whether she’ll blab. My feeling, looking at the totality of the thing, is that the reason the Italian authorities want her nailed is her wild accusations against them. That’s the first part.

The second is that this whole murder greatly interested Berlusconi and the mafia and the one who had to be protected was Sollecito, whose father, whose family, is highly placed … Old Italy. Also, this was at Hallowe’en, coming up now in 2024.

And I’m just going to throw this in here:

The black youth actually convicted? Clearly part of it but 1st Chambers, Supreme Court, insisted, in its summing up, that there was more than one murderer involved … and as we know, Lumumba was not involved. Which leaves two accomplices.

Some fellow unherdables have gone the path of Knox being just an accomplice … i.e. not actually slashing MK’s throat. As this bit was not beyond doubt, my personal view was that she was as high as a kite, a real bad ‘un but also gutless … it seems to me it was the males … just my view. She was certainly involved though, in a similar way to Clara Schwartz being the motivator behind her father’s killing by the boy, though not the one who did the deed per se. Just my view.

Totally innocent of it? Not a chance on the sworn testimony at the trials. Can they get her for that again? Lock her away for the 28 years or so? 🍿🍿🍿
