Sunday [2 to 5]

(1014) Slept in, didn’t I … no bad thing as I’d been in too many wars last night and recently … plus, out of respect for our Fallen, better restarting later now. Reminder that the two minutes silence is at 11 a.m. this morning in Britain (possibly Canada?) and for the rest of the west on Wednesday, same time. (Midday)

3. True, it’s not something to ordinarily interest you the reader per se

… but if understanding what investigative pundits do face, plus to a point the commenter/contributor, if that matters, then read on, McDuff. This is the sort of BS we have to put up with:

All right, so it’s spam, mainly Russian (Boris in Moscow) and I was averaging 40-50 a day. After certain banking issues here, plus Restore lads and lasses started latching onto me and in return … it jumped to around 200+ per day, 250, which need removing one by one.

Ah, you say, big deal, we all get spam. Yes, that’s so, plus antispam to deal with it … simples. One of mine on one device is Avast. But here at HQ, it’s all manual. You see, I do have an API key which is necessary for Akismet to switch on, but WP have hidden it away at one of our unherdable sites. Good joke. Silly me, 20 years ago … I’ve now lost where I wrote it down.

WP do know I have one, but ain’t sayin’ like. They’re selling’em you see. Uh huh. Plus won’t give it anyway unless I “verify age”. Now any Brit knows that’s the DigID Pathway, like facial recognition, voice, fingerprint, so I’m in a standoff with them. Spam which had been in the 15 or so a day now jumped like a pole vaulter.

All right … those with memories (plus any interest) know that WP itself recently congratulated me on 20 years blogging with them. Very kind. As the Wise, Authoritative Gentleman (WAG) Lord T said … it’s hardly the point … the point is they want you jumping through hoops at every stage, on every application. I add … as in Soviet Russia … no common sense, just bureaucracy as god.

The WAG also calls me out on two further things:

  • putting words in his mouth
  • whining and moaning about the inevitable.

After all, I’m on a free bleedin’ platform, innit … their gaff, their rules. That’s fair, except for the govt imposed non common sense … there’s no such thing as “common” sense … it’s highly uncommon. I could have added that it’s hardly free either, internet but I do take the point good and hard. Er, better to say “do concede the argument”.

a) Gen Z: a generation in revolt, in France and across the globe. *La Nouvelle République* explores the reasons and underlying factors that have driven this generation to take to the streets in recent weeks.

Who are the members of Generation Z—or “Gen Z”? Born between the late 1990s and the early 2010s, they are the first generation to have never known a world without the internet. Today, they are shaking up the country, taking to the streets to voice their anger and demand better education. [DAD – The article ignores the bright orange elephant dancing and trumpeting in the middle of the room.]

b) Europe is trying to patch migration with duct tape. The European Commission reported that only 28 per cent of return decisions were executed in 2025. Meanwhile, on June 17 the European Parliament approved new return rules, including the possibility of return hubs outside the Union. After the vote, some MEPs chanted “send them back”.

c) Belgium’s King Philippe rejected Prime Minister Bart De Wever’s resignation and ordered the five-party coalition to resume stalled budget talks by November 16.

d) Over 90 percent of individuals wanted on arrest warrants in Bavaria are foreign nationals, new data shows, sparking debate over whether fugitives continue receiving welfare payments.

e) About 200 citizens of Ceuta wore Guy Fawkes masks in a silent protest Thursday demanding action on the Spanish exclave’s crises following a mass illegal migration surge three months ago.
