“We’re calling it. Netanyahu, Barnea, Ben-Gvir and several other members of Israel’s security leadership are dead. That’s the Prime Minister, Head of Mossad and Minister of National Security. Iran hit a high-level meeting of minds the same way Israel did. The question is who had the drop on them and dimed them out to Iran. If Trump’s smart he pretends like he double-crossed Netanyahu, takes credit for it all and leaves the war.”

  1. 16. Wonder if the Yahoo is actually dead … or in hiding? – that’s a shame, I like Joe Kent. His wife was KIA in Syria, working as liaison between US and British Special Forces on the ground. Back to Iran and those A10 Thunderbolts I mentioned here a couple of weeks ago. They are moving into theatre right now and it looks like they’ve been tasked with blazing away at those small fast boats. We’ll see what else they do over the coming fortnight and whether they provide close air support for the US Marines, who are about a week away.

    • #20 An eye for an eye …

But is it true? The attempts to disprove it seem pretty lame to me. On the other hand the Israelis may think that Netanyahu is a bit safer from assassination if the Iranians think he’s already dead.

Or maybe they’re just smuggling him from one bunker to another. How could any of us tell?
The world of smoke and mirrors, eh?

P.S. Why are the marines a week away? Why weren’t they positioned near the Gulf in the first place? Further, how can they be used if even the carrier groups are cowering 700 miles out at sea? Who is going to destroy the Iranian anti-ship missiles so that the USN can contribute to the war? Who knows?

      • Why are the Marines a week away? Because they are. They’ve deployed from their base in Japan and there use will remain a secret, for now. The 31st Marine Expeditionary Unit (MEU) does not require a carrier – it’s an autonomous force with its own air-wing (F-35B’s) and MV-22 Osprey helicopters, all on board the amphibious warship USS Tripoli (LHA-7). Aircraft carriers do not ‘cower’, they stay afloat by not being a sitting target. Combined they’ve carried out over 4000 sorties. As for anti-ship missiles the A10’s can play with them.

        • They are cowering, Steve. The US claims to have destroyed nearly all Iran’s defensive capacity. So what’s the USN scared of?

Presumably the fact that the US has not destroyed Iran’s defensive capacity. The USN presumably thinks the Iranians still have plenty of anti-ship missiles.

To such missiles the USS Tripoli will not be immune.

Anyway you’ve not answered my question. Why are the marines turning up so late? Why weren’t they moved earlier?

          ……

JH: Not answering questions, eh? “Anyway you’ve not answered my question.”

So let’s look at the two questions. First was DAD asking for the apology but I still see you’ve not answered his question … and then there is your own demand of Steve in turn.

Now we can go one of two ways. Either the landlord insists and thus we have grief, a waste of time … or we all just agree to move on. Simple choice. I’m opting for the latter. 😎

More seriously, coming back to DAD at NOWP … it works a bit like Elon’s algorithm at X … there we’re ascribed “points”, as in road naughties with plod … too many and we’re shadow banned. Too many of those warnings, as with ggl blgr and N.O. and the blog is summarily deleted.

Now that’s not really your concern, it’s mine to deal with platform management but if I see a common theme in pendings and takedowns, then I warn about it. One is Malsi, highly sensitive just now, another the Beloved Sausage, another Chas3. In history, it was never wise to say too much to the latter.

Now we can go one of two ways. Either you agree to the request to euphemise or encode Malsi, not use it “in plain”, a request I’ve made many times but some of us are just ignoring that … or I need to find a second solution.

Now I can go one of two ways … either make an issue about it, over and over and over, wasting my typing fingers … or I can just remove those references or euphemise them myself.

Trouble with that solution is both “author” (you) and “admin” (me) accumulate points whilst we are writing those references in plain. And I need to protect NOWP because it’s not just a blog but a system nerve centre inside, it’s holding the platform itself to 19 year old agreements … again not your concern at first glance.

But you do see I must insist on the request, to protect the working space for all of us. So I’m advising all that on that key reference to Malsi:

          – in plain text, I must step in and euphemise or extract
          – with urls, it’s a case by case basis
          – with sshots, there’s more room to move, hence I use them.

Thank you for your attention to this matter.
