  1. They performed a CT scon on my wife today, with the plan of amputating above the knee. The femoral artery in her left leg is completely blocked, all the way up to the aeorta. No operation will fix this, and there’s is an increased risk if the try to operate. All they can do is manage her pain and palliative care. She has months left, if that long. Over the past 3 years she has had mood swings and sometime bizzare behaviour. This has gotten far worse sine the amputation on 2nd December. It’s due to the toxins from this huge blockage being released into her bloodstream, affecting her brain chemistry. She is terrified and wants to come home. I will move heaven and earth so that I can get a proper care and support plan in place so that she can come home. I’ll do what I can to ensure that whatever time she has left is comfortable. My heart is broken, but it’s time for me to be strong for her sake.

  2. O. P.,
Prayers from the coast of Alabama, USA. Cuddles and I are praying Missus Old Peculiar has a peaceful and as pain free, as possible, time with you at home. We are praying you can soon find proper, affordable care.

Old Peculiar, as much as possible try and take care of yourself. I realise that is easier said than done considering all you are both experiencing. You must eat. Do accept help if offered by friends and family if they are nearby. Also, if needed ask someone. I am not good about asking for help, so I merely suggest.

Are there churches in your area? Would they have members or staff to sit with your wife while you rest an hour or two, or allow you to walk outside a few minutes a day, or two during the week?

The world is so different than when we were young that having people come help out for a spell is unusual, I am sad to say.

Along with prayers for your wife and for you, we will pray for those administering her care in the hospital. Prayers that should you find proper home caregivers they will be tender, kind, and concerned. If firmness is required for administration of their duties, I pray your wife (and you) will be calm and unafraid. Bless you.

    Your friend,
    Toodles
