This will be my sole post on it, I’ve kept the video over from last year, the one and only video on the subject … think readers know my view on it.

That friend I mention lives in Liverpool … was right into the whole thing until this year. This year, she’s following the advice above … realises it’s not safe for women and children. This girl in the youtube I hope had woken up:
When we first came to France nearly two decades ago the spooky stuff was very sparse however now the stores are awash with it. We’ve only ever had two lots of threatening beggars at the door both sets extremely polite and accompanied by their parents. Our tradition is to ignore Them’s tradition completely. Today is the last day of October which ends at midnight when it is then All Saints which ironically is a public holiday here. Go figure.
We try to ignore this evening – fortunately we don’t tend to get anyone coming round to us as we’re a bit hidden away.
When I was a kidlet and living in Scotland, things were much less threatening (no doubt things are different now). We would wear fancy dress – any fancy dress, nothing ghoulish. Then we went round to the neighbours and asked if they were holding Halloween. If they said no, we went to the next house. If they said yes, we then had to perform in order to get our treat – either a poem, a dance, a joke or something similar. We usually got home made biscuits, home made treacle toffee, apple, etc. When we moved to England I was quite disappointed because nobody anywhere seemed to do anything like that. They’d never heard of it. I’m not sure when it all changed….

JH: I have to go downstairs in a minute. 🫢 Wish me luck.
