Sunday. All quiet on the Western [French] Front this morning – the family still asleep.

a) One little-known part of the history of the French Revolution is the uprising of the people of the of the Vendee [the coastal region between Nantes and La Rochelle] in support of their minor aristocracy and their Priests.

  1. #5: people weren’t as large – look at the narrowness of that bus door.

    By “large” I don’t mean just fat – anyone broad-shouldered would need to turn sideways to get in. Nowadays even with a small rucksack there probably wouldn’t be a problem.

  2. 5. I’ve eased off on images and videos like that. Not entirely, but it can be depressing after scanning current news headlines. The solution of course is to miss out the news headlines.
