  1. I would imagine that they can, 67 being the house number, the postcode relating to a group of houses in a certain street in a certain town.

  2. My brother once addressed a letter to me as “The girl with long brown hair that laughs a lot” followed by the road we lived in and the rest of the address (no post code). It reached me (but the postman did know me).

    I also remember being told that a letter was addressed thusly:
    Hill
    John
    Hants

    And apparently John Underhill, Andover, Hants received it.
    I do not know if this really happened or if it was just made up, but I thought it very clever.
