16. This we’ll need to go into in more depth
… can’t this morning for time reasons.

Moosherama: BHS, eh? They sold me a corduroy jacket of which I became fond.
But the main lesson is how packed that street was. Apart from towns that are full of tourists, do you see such crowds today?
……
JH: Those were the days all right. I liked BHS … it seemed somehow right to buy from them.
There was also a Dutch high street brand – name now forgotten – that I bought some stuff at. I bought my socks – “Indestructibles” – from a wee outfitter’s.
They did prove indestructible too: a girl-friend threw them out decades later, still in no need of darning. She also threw out my cravats; I do wish I hadn’t agreed. I loathe wearing a tie – a cravat is a far more comfortable alternative.
Club rugby shirts I bought at … not sure. Forsyth’s? Jenner’s?
C&A was Dutch, not sure if it still is.
BHS was thought to be the less posh version of Marks and Sparks. Gran only went to the latter as a special treat. She’d be appalled now at how their quality has slipped.
C&A still going strong in Bordeaux!
