8. It’s that time of year – so many men were killed and maimed in the Great War the nation was in shock for years afterwards. My grandmothers recalled women openly weeping in the streets on these occasions. Husbands, brothers and sons, in fact all male relatives were wiped out in some instances. It was nothing short of terrible. Just over two decades later it happened again. Rest in Peace.
