A K, my parents took us up to London over a period of years from the mid-sixties. Day trips with Mum, Dad, me my sister and brother. We couldn’t afford proper holidays back then – ones where you’d go away somewhere for a week or two. Typical summer holiday would be day out to Longleat Safari Park. Lunch would be sandwiches and a thermos of coffee. I do remember the London of 1966, ’67 and ’68: London Zoo, Madame Tussauds, the Planetarium, etc. I was back there last Saturday at the Unite the Kingdom demo and compared to the 60’s it’s a dump mate. London was a lot cleaner back then; more orderly, polite. It was also very British.
