Monday [15 to 19]

(1003) Right, here’s the cunning plan, cavemen and women … two loads of washing are on … there’s a scheduled quiz and it took some writing … plus there’s an item about Mack Sennett which will fill the ladies at lunchtime spot. Plus IYE has a special item on ladies in France. Film? Not yet but I’ll find something. Maybe. (1031)

  1. 19. The lady on the left seems to be carrying two very small men in one of her buckets.

    ……

JH: She is too … however does she manage it?

  2. Trying to keep up with the news today – not easy when you do not partake in social media. A mate I first met at technical college does; he’s on X, and surprisingly up to speed on stuff I rarely look at. Two subjects I avoid completely and I’m not disclosing either. Today though Starmer is talking defence and declared he’s taking manufacturing “up to wartime pace”. I say bollocks and I suspect he knows it as well and is therefore lying – which he’s very good at. My Mum’s father worked at the Supermarine factory in Woolston during the war, skinning Spitfire wings 70 hours a week. Like so many the war exhausted him and he never really recovered. He died in his mid-fifties before I was born: RIP Grandad.

    ……

    JH: Yes.
