11. Marmite
10. One man’s private diary
Higham in the month of our Lord … May, 2025:
Woke up this morning feelin’ fine
There’s something special on my mind
Last night I had a nice dins, uh huh, whoa yeah
Something tells me I’m into something good
Something tells me I’m into something …..
… but, but, but … after the windows were opened, had had the oats and fruit, plus coffee, plus meds … I started getting woozy, throaty, tumminy but had seen too many variables to pin it down to one.
Now, effects of whatever it was are wearing off and I suspect it was the fetid air outside, plus the planes laying poison trails. Hmmmm, shall have to laboriously try one variable at a time to find out.
You ok there?
9. John Cleese X a/c
Bit before my time that one, James. Looking at the date I would have been in my first year at junior school. What strikes me is how upbeat pop was in the first half of the 60’s. They called it the ‘swinging sixties’ for good reason. Here they are down under:

In other news a distinguished career in the Royal Navy ends with tales of illicit nooky. Surely the script from a Carry On film, circa 1960 🙂
Sir James.
I like the h/t to Mr Noone & Company.
Many pleasant memories

9 to 11. Each gave me a strong emotional response. 9. A jolly good laugh. 10. A burst of nostalgia. 11. A touch of nausea, yes I am one of the Marmite haters.
“….yes I am one of the Marmite haters….”. Me,too: also Peanut butter Urgh.
Mmmmmm.
Marmite spread lightly on hot buttered toast then covered with grated Cheddar and put under the grill again until the cheese just about bubbles. Just in time for tea…
Or smothered over a chicken before it goes into the oven to roast….makes good gravy.
Or on a lamb chop before it goes under the grill…
🙂
Peanut butter – you can keep it. Usual muck is loaded with sugar.
