Reviews were mixed … this was one of the positive ones:

Actress Marie Roget (Maria Montez) disappears and is suspected of being murdered as a woman is found murdered with her face clawed away, but one day, much to everyone’s surprise, she shows up, and doesn’t give much information about her disappearance…

Then at a party, she disappears again. Dr. Pierre Dupin (Patric Knowles) is determined to get to the truth. Inspector Gobelin (Lloyd Corrigan) acts as Watson to Dupin’s Holmes. Suspects are a plenty, from Camille whose fiancée Marcel has been having an affair with Marie, Marcel himself who had hinted at doing away with Camille as he doesn’t really love her or Mme. Cecile Rogêt who had overheard Marie and Marcel coming up with a plan to get rid of Camille.

An absolutely solid mystery from Universal studios- a mix of Sherlock Holmes and Edgar Allan Poe, and you get a fast-paced mystery, at times complicated, yet fills its one hour running time like a well-oiled machine and ticks off red herrings with ease. The climax featuring a daring rooftop chase is a nail biter. Maria Montez is beautiful as always, and I loved the chemistry between Dr Dupin and the inspector- entertaining interaction.

1. The ephemeral nature of HQ

A reminder, ladies and gentlemen, that this HQ site, though more amenable to you, more protective than the other three, is only so as long as I physically maintain it and about half of its physical components.

Not explaining the intricacies but am advising that any data or links you deem of value are best stored by you NOW either on a usb stick or external hard drive or written or printed on paper … I’d advise, at a minimum, keeping a folder of links in a safe place.

There is also the internet archive wayback machine used by IYE which is of much value as Them allow it to be at any particular day or time and I can assure you that we are always under attack 24/7 … our HQ backend itself being up in the millions of attacks, the frontend here getting on for a couple of thou, all physically removed … it’s not just Nole, though he’s vastly more high profile of course.

My view on all this is thank Heaven for small mercies as long as they continue … there is evidence that they will suddenly cease, disappear this summer … then again, they might not.

(1520) Visitor’s zipped off to do home duties, so we solved all the issues of the world first, natch, hanged the right people, incarcerated the others and here’s our joint statement:

What non-Uniparty Brits need to do

Firstly, Reform under that name is now a busted flush, due to Nige’s jihadi tendencies, plus Tice’s and Anderson’s behaviour … no way back, that’s a given.

So it needs a mass meeting in some hall, chaired by someone acceptable to most, someone not allied with Nigel or Rupert per se, someone at ground level and not only does it need a new party, new committee but even before that … who is still going to own the party? 50% Nigel & Tice, 50% Yusuf & Jihadis?

Thirdly, if the private ownership is a major sticking point, plus the jihadi factor is a major sticking point, then clearly there’s no point going on. Under the name “Reform” TM, whoever has 50% or 50% + one vote … has the controlling say.

Under those circumstances, there needs to be a second meeting with all interested people present … all those councillors, all those ground level workers, slight change to the name but the party controlled by existing Reform members plus anyone else thinking of joining. None of the good work done undone … everything still on a roll, Rupert still chief rottweiler in parliament, Dame Andrea still there if she wishes, any Kippers or Heritage or Homeland welcome, any defecting Labour or Tories.

Nigel, Tice, Anderson? Up to them … stay with the legacy jihadi Reform rump or join the new Britain party or whatever, platform drawn up … forward march.
