13. Just looking at those from sunnier climes than ours

… and really wondering at the violence … looking at Eric Adams and at this clown:

If embattled New York City Mayor Eric Adams, currently under federal indictment, ultimately steps down, the NYC Public Advocate, stoker of anti-cop sentiment and *defund the police* advocate, Jumaane Williams becomes heir apparent to Gracie Mansion.

This Williams is from Grenada. Without looking at the sub-saharans, keeping it to the Caribbean … what is it, for example, about Jamaicans once they hit London … suddenly they’re Yardies. And yet the music is so gentle as you’ll hear below, or at least melodic, not thumping. The third song for example, in the hands of the English, becomes in yer face skinhead music … why?

12. Two liars found out

11. The utter failure to understand

… and the complete disregard for the need to. The only reason these psycho clowns are emboldened has just been mentioned … we were discussing it today and both came to the same point. Is it that the ordinary person is as thick as pig dos or is that they’ve never seen it happen, they simply cannot believe it’s anywhere near as bad as what it is … some quotes which put it nicely:

10. Hurricane Helene

This does seem a nasty one about to land. Our Toodles was right in the path of one, in a closet so there’s nothing she can’t say about them … she asks and others on X ask that if you’re the praying kind … please put one in for Floridians and those after that in the path. Ta.

That threatened film … Thur-mat

Sorely underrated and dismissed at the time of its release, The Running Man can now be seen for what it it: a highly effective thriller. Director Carol Reed was said to be shaken after being dismissed from Mutiny on the Bounty, but it really doesn’t show. He conducts us deftly through a nicely conceived intrigue, with no time wasted. If a viewer can forgive a small handful of plot contrivances, this movie delivers in suspense, interesting characters, acting, and pleasing use of locations.

The cast is superb: Laurence Harvey might look underfed, but his character is richly drawn he seems to have a great time. Lee Remick has never been better: a woman who sees her husband for what he really is when he assumes a new identity. And Alan Bates, an actor who radiated charm, brings a lot of substance to his part. Watch for Fernando Rey and Fortunio Bonanova (the singing teacher from Citizen Kane –“Impossible! Impossible!”) as a bank manager.

The script has a good helping of humor along with the suspense. And William Alwyn’s music score enhances the film as well. It may not be The Third Man, but The Running Man is likely to satisfy most fans of thrillers, the director and the estimable cast. (IMDb)

Thursday [8 and 9]

(1250) Afternoon all. (1329)

9. Some politics (accumulated)

8. Kicking off with Dearieme

DM, in comments (see sidebar) wrote that there’s an issue … he gets to the other site but when clicked, nothing comes up. Right, firstly to establish that we’re both doing the same thing … can you all see DM’s comment in this sidebar (you might have to click, expand and read).

I next go to the green link Thursday [1 to 5], click it, scroll down the resulting page and there’s this:

Look up to the navbar menu and you’ll see NOWP, click and this should appear:

Click on either 2 replies or the 821 heading and it will bring up that post but you’ll have to scroll to this:

From what DM’s writing, it seems that the window goes blank at that point for him. Firstly, there have been some overall iffy things happening on the ipad since the new site went up but so far, NOWP has not been the prob. If it is, then there are some standard actions …

Refresh the page (mine is a semicircular arrow up top) or click on the NOWP again and it will usually resolve it. If NOWP 821 still can’t be accessed, then something is going on. Pure speculation on my part but it might be a deliberate disconnect between HQ and NOWP to prevent that easy clickability … we’ve been finding some of this going on in other places.

Plus I’ve been losing all content after visiting X or Gab after about ten minutes in either. That might be a result of being hacked, something or someone agin far-right as they see us … seems only to happen to our activity … it might be.

So, definitely not pooh-poohing what DM writes … it’s possible, plus different devices, browsers, parts of the UK or France do enter into consideration. Plus GCHQ or the companies involved … whatever. There’s a case to just exit, go do a job or visit elsewhere, come back sometime later. Yes, agreed … bleedin’ pain … but it is what those of our views are contending with more and more post-2020 now online.

Thursday [6 and 7]

(0929) Oops, went back to bed and fell asleep … looks pretty bleah out there, must be autumn. (1029)

7. Just went right through Gab and X

… the timelines I mean … and there’s really nothing that takes us much further fwd … seems to be one of those days. Not to worry, summarising yesterday’s political aspects of our long cyber conversation here whilst doing the doings on the hardware and software, the question came up of the US election result.

My mate was sure, and I agree, that if the Demonrats’ and RINO cheating scores them another “victory”, then there’ll be civil war over there. My feeling was that, given Emerald’s reports on Trump’s advisers, something is quite off … they seem to have no “ground game”.

Another aspect was Johnson visiting Mar-a-lago, then going straight back to DC and announcing his package. Now that could mean anything … Trump attempting to dissuade him from leaving out SAVE or them agreeing on the plan. Who knows definitively? And this threat to Iran … ????

Perceptions seem the whole game … the Rats steal again, J6 prisoners stay in … just what can Americans do, uncombined? Pick off their own soldiers and plod, also the National Guard? Will Russia be provoked and the “leaders” have gone into those tunnels under the Appalachians which Svali spoke about in 2000? With entourages?

My mate thought there’d be much picking off, probably minor identities, none of the big players. Also, the Rats are making clear that it will take days, the counting, which most pundits understand means until sufficient votes can be found and delivered. If it’s done electronically, then it would not require any physical dumping, plus the early voting has already started. Is Corey Lew too late?

Were there some sort of sporadic civil war across the country, would that spill over here, across the pond? Is this when the UN and sub-saharan “troops” are activated against any resistance from us? Does this explain the total lack of respect from these psychos above towards us?

2. Americans for Limited govt

… puts out mailings, usually along our lines, more TPA like, and this is part of today’s:

Senator Rand Paul is one of the few Senators who are serious about the fiscal challenges facing America.  Quite simply, the current rate of government spending is unsustainable with interest payments on the debt for the first ten months of fiscal year 2024 reaching a staggering $763 billion fully $202 billion more than the same period the previous year. Net interest payments on the debt surpass every other spending category other than Social Security. It is astonishing that the fiscal apocalypse that we have worried about for decades is now upon us with even defense spending dwarfed by the cost of simply making interest payments on our $35 trillion national debt.

Phew. How meaningful are trillions these days? Fiscal respinsibility? What was that … a now extinct species?

1. Clubs and parties

We had a blog group almost two decades ago which looked like a good idea and it had about a hundred members at one point, from all different parties. It could only survive as long as political differences were understood, maybe with a snide aside but they did not threaten the prime directive … promoting “good blogs”.

Iain Dale had some criteria for that … it was regular, it kept within the laws of defamation, illegality, pron etc. … and in those heady days of Old Labour, Old Conservative such as Norman Tebbit, it was workable.

That was the key … workable … and I’d suggest too many are ultra-doctrinal without looking at how different shades or wings can get along. We look at 2024 and how Starmer has made it clear that obtuse and bloodminded, bludgeoning is the way he thinks he’ll rearrange Britain to suit the WEF. That’s another issue … this post item is about clubs, groups … and churches.

Toodles sent some local news from that corner of the world stretching to Texas and I’d suggest it is no more nor no less than what any group of unherdable cats find when they sttempt to combine for some purpose. As a person who’s started enough groups to be called an egomaniacal troublemaker, my view on it is that all formalised groups are fraught.

Just that.

Watching Reform euphoria, I could easily see the seeds of doom embedded in its set-up, not least in its patricians pushing out its “plebs”, its working class … and those are from former Labour, former Tory voterships. That’s fine with the common Uniparty enemy but what about in govt? With a platform of planks, a manifesto?

That’s when the falling out begins and we saw the Evans problem at UKIP on doctrinal points, also between Carswell and Farage. Back in the States, I was looking at the infrastructure involving property, big money for building and maintenance, church hierarchies and this name came up:

HERE

Just think of the doctrinal points they could fall out on. Add to that the old lure of man-woman as shown in this Perry Mason episode and add to that the most unChristian men handling the finances, the Bank Ambrosias … rife for trouble, open invitation for the evil one to come in and wreak havoc.

How do football clubs stay together? When they do, that is? Well, an overriding goal, yes? Look at Peter Navarro in Steve’s first piece which was to have been Natalie W … which it was later. He, PN, pointed out that some SpAds close to DJT were badmouthing him … leaking to the left press … 40 days out from the election. Why?

Coming back to church things, Toodles was pointing out about “too perfect” people, not always with coiffed hair but all vulnerabilities seemingly smoothed … yet under the surface? Always something. Anyone setting themselves up as paragons of virtue I’m hugely suspicious of:

HERE

Mind you, I’m with the PTA on mothers doing a Cher: Tramps and Thieves or The Son of Hickory Holler’s Tramp but really … one should look to oneself first. If you’re vulnerable to counterattack, which I very much am, should I just shut it? Maybe my experience of something leads me to say this is a nowhere path?

To my mind, there just needs to be an extraction of ego and bloodymindedness from the equation and then maybe we can get somewhere. Also, we make mistakes … we’ve just finished telling Steve about “The Health Ranger” and what do I go and do yesterday? Wed 10b … why? Coz I saw James Melville, saw the CO2 machine, was rushing to be ready for something else which needed doing … completely missed Adams.

Hmmmm … take it down? Cover my tracks? Can’t … the story itself is right … whatever his set up (see Be Aware page), the issue itself needed saying. There’s no easy answer to any of these th8ngs, is there?

Wednesday [12 till close of play]

(1632) Evening all. Probably not going to have time for a film … just various items as they come to hand, dinner etc.

14. Santa Barbara courthouse explodes?

As in physically explodes? Shall find out. (2048) Nothing in search, nothing on Gab so far.

Toodles reports:

One of the 3 networks had something a hour ago but nothing really…only two people nearby…I think nearby were injured. I wonder just how do they know that. People are not allowed in the area cause it is too dangerous.I am freaked out by the woman being squeezed for 2 hours by a python in her kitchen in Thailand. 2 hours before getting help!!! I am never going to Thailand!

13. Now and next

… flee the UK’s NHS:

It’s getting to the point where some might contemplate emigration so as not to be murdered by a doctor.

If it can happen to the Monarch it can happen to anyone. In January 1936 the dying King George V was given a hurry-up kill shot of morphine and cocaine; allegedly the moment was chosen to let The Times break the news, instead of the evening papers. The King’s last words to his physician were ‘God damn you.’

(JH: ha ha, maybe it ain’t no joke.)

12. Just a word to patrons of nourishing unherdables

Firstly, the whole unherdables thang is happening because a certain platform stole my (our) 18 year old blog on the day of its birthday … really nice people, eh? And of course, there was the little matter of trying to stay afloat to take care of, whilst a more permanent solution was found.

Not going to report on that specifically and today was part of the build … had to be done, chaps and chapesses … it was done and part tested. Also tried out the Ctrl + scrolling wheel thing today and while it does enlarge and reduce, it needs a very soft touch to keep it to 5 to 10%. I apple-log to all again but the template-theme, despite the font size, has much going for it.

Right … onto the topic of this post item … things which you write. Mate today made a good point when we were discussing putting things up he would like to see. I said he was welcome … just send it or drop it.

Ah, said he … my strength, he said, is the IT, that’s what we’re doing today … your expertise is … er … otherwise. I tumbled to it. Now I’m fine with ghosting something you boys and gals want to post … or even just giving it the once over, proofing, maybe not even touching at all … but …

… to not touch at all does bring in platform rules from those above, upon me, also laws of the land, copyright etc. … so it’s still a two way thing in that way. Also … you see the amount of space we use, also sparing with links … also to where the links are … there are still considerations, let us say.

Also … I’m blogging most of the waking hours myself. Happy to do … time and ease of doing it is really the thang though.

Let’s test this out … Steve dropped 820:2 … now, my job is to do justice to it, esp. as many of you have no access to X. I do have access, so I took some screenshots and pics:

On the state of naval vessels, even the refuelling of

https://forum.gcaptain.com/t/usns-big-horn-grounding/70744

So, most will get the general idea … it’s now up to the “dropper” to see if the main points were covered … if not, point them out in a subsequest comment underneath … as long as we end up, overall, with the topic covered.

Wednesday [9 to 11]

(1545) Late afternoon all … fish dinner coming up. (1604)

11. Moosh corner

10. Another roundup

9. Prat corner

This guy is a prat for reasons I’ll eventually get to. Here’s what I originally wrote:

The subject matter is well treated, the background noise (“music”) does not drown out, it’s a short enough youtube … then “was ist den los” (dropping into my pidgin Deutsch)?

The issue is the guy’s actual voice … it’s a strange case, not of a face for radio, but a voice for silent movies. He gives the appearance of manliness and yet … that voice! And yet … and yet … it’s a good documentary, worth your time perhaps:

Ah, but at 1547, that’s not the actual supreme super-prattiness … it was blocking embedding, the prat.

5. Back on the ipad waiting for m’man

… as Lou Reed might have sung. Well, cyber is an imprecise medium … laptop worketh not for internet but bypassing wifi does work, so all good. We’re not just reconfiguring and adding, the whole bleedin’ room needs rearranging.

There are a dozen topics awaiting just now for unherdables … best not to rush at it and ruin it, so it will be this afternoon. Also a film you may or may not like.
