We’re only as good as our last post or in this case, our last film. AKH was quite right in his comment under the last film:
“An enjoyable film even though the picture and sound quality weren’t great…”
Issue is that though largely enjoyable for a few reasons, the 30s films do have those vision and sound issues. Now, as far as YT and film and record companies are concerned, that’s fine … give the plebs dross … nay, turn it into dross afap … unless said plebs are ready to part with copious moolah. Also, the moment someone cleans up the copy, colourises, whatever, suddenly YT or uploader claps restrictions on … either chopping the film into bits, each crammed with ads or some other moneymaking way.
Now, I do ustd intellectual property rights but I also ustd out-and-out greed … and this is compounded by lying in the thumbnail, for example, using AI commentary and so on. Besides, the number of 30s films of good B quality … weeeelllll, we’ve run out, to be frank.
So it’s back to the old Simon Templar, Perry Mason and the like. I quite liked this one below … being decades later, the vision and sound is naturally a bit better.
The thing I don’t like about the 70s is that the violence became quite a bit more graphic, in slow motion … Peckinpah etc. and that does nothing for me, personally, there’s no entertainment in that unless you’re a sicko already in the head.
Eventually, they even got to soaps and so Coronation Street had its gruesomeness and sicko sexuality … it got to Doctor Who, it tainted everything … and today, it’s just bile and dross, with the wimmin slappers or superhuman or both. No thanks.
