Uh huh. Well, with me being Mr. ‘Umble ‘n all, along with you boys and our gals … well here’s my reply:
Many years ago, several of us Police officers were on duty when Mac Davis was touring UK, and he made the point of talking to us, as well as giving us tickets for his show (we had to declare them as a gift, but were allowed to keep them). During his show, he made mention of us being in the audience, and even rewrote the third verse of that song to poke gentle fun at us. A very nice man.
I understand that when he wrote “In The Ghetto”, Elvis Presley’s manager made him agree that Elvis was given writing credits before he would record it. Parker was not a nice man at all.
