8. Colleen Moore

Never let it be said that we do not profile noted women here, albeit occasionally … this lady I’ve always been intrigued by, as she was a massively popular star of her day, commanding large weekly fees, with one film costing $1m, recouping it in a few months.
She was the first to model the new “flapper” bob, later popularised … forever … by Louise Brooks … and another “forever girl” was her friend, initially her idol … Lillian Gish … she had two major loves, Colleen did … acting plus dolls and dolls houses, all her life.
Wiki is rubbish on anything political, yes, but on things like this, it’s definitive … do read it fully if you would … quite a story:
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Colleen_Moore
My search question can be guessed in this response:

She was one of those women of the time in Hollywood who were they’re own people, sane, astute, knew how to invest her earnings, having had a rough intro to the film industry, she later joined an investment firm once it was apparent that her future was not in talkies. Sadly, just like today where women who are driven to being Boss Girls end up with money cats and regrets … but also not in the same way … Colleen Moore was shrewd behind the ingenue image she projected (as was Gish) … Colleen kept remarrying.
Anyone who knows of the era knows of Clara Bow, Louise Brooks, Lillian Gish, Annette Hanshaw but Colleen Moore? Maybe many today see the pictures and think Brooks or Gish … when it’s actually Moore.

Once more … why? Why not known to the same extent? Well, the deterioration of the films which were given to a museum and the “curator” just left them open on the shelf … certainly that was a huge factor. But there’s also another imho. Some people are fine in almost all respects but something in their face, manner, even intelligence, is not so much offputting as it stops people warming to them.
Just the very factor of being in control of their business, their life … well it leaves no room for emotion, warm fuzzy feelings. Wanting to play the ingenue in film, seeing how popular that was with the wartorn public … there was just some X factor which allowed people to simply forget her later … time and events do move on. She was, at heart, conventional. That’s that.
7. This is being “buried” here
… coz it’s a major topic, a sleeper, arguably with eschatalogical implications. IYE:
