Tuesday [11 till close of play]

(1611) Almost evening, folks, raining anyway.

19. And now something far more serious

18. Trump calls off the Putin meeting

There are two things here imho with the Donald. Firstly, he truly believes in this art of the deal thing but that does not work with someone in a winning position. Secondly, Putin truly is a hardnut … he has to be, with Medvedev and Lavrov right there … they are the mood of the country, which Vlad is trying to keep statesmanlike. There is a third … if Putin is removed, all out war ensues.

17. This does make social media worthwhile

That’s nice. This is the lady who resigned from the rape gang commission, followed by two others (their letters were posted here earlier). The soc-med support was pretty overwhelming, plus she saw Jess Phillips savaged in parlmt, causing the callous bint to lose her rag and the soc-med reaction to that from all quarters was relentless.

It still does not change the whitewash but to get direct support like that from ordinary people means a lot to all those girls … that Sep 13 rally was also great for showing the depth of feeling across the country.

13. Trafalgar again

12. Aberfan was a year later than The Byrds’ song

… October 21st, 1966, but the mood for the Welsh miners and communities was in keeping. As long as we bear that in mind … that the song is not specifically about the Aberfan disaster … here goes:

  1. But did the “the Welsh miners and communities” for a second rethink their policy that the mines ought to be owned by the government? To ask the question is to answer it.

    ……

JH: Quite right but I’d still remember the day of the preventable tragedy.
