(1249) Afternoon all … cunning plan is to post both of these before I realise what a silly idea it is.
The vague idea is to explore reaction youtubes, of which there are hundreds, going into pluses and minuses … that was the idea but only now did I realise I only need compare two, both of the same film … so not only do you see the film twice, you get to see three ladies reacting … what more could you want on a Saturday afternoon threatening to rain, as it is.
Right, the film is Naked Gun (first instalment, the one with the Queen) and the nature of that 1988 film, if you recall, was that there was a romance thing with Priscilla Presley and Leslie Nielson, plus it had Orange Juice … the denouement was in the Dodgers stadium at a ball game.
The issue with both videos is youtube itself … they insist on poor quality vision, broken at intervals … thus you concentrate on the reviewer(s). To that end, every time someone talks in the first, whether film or reviewers, the vision window disappears, then comes back … very poor.
You tube offer a few options … one is that the moment a reactor speaks, he or she enlarges and goes centre frame, cutting out the film … that happens in the second reaction vid. In short, it’s a bleedin’ pain … however, if the reactors are such that you can watch and listen to her (them) for an hour … if they’re fun watching … plus you know the movie back to front anyway, then it’s entertaining.
The second reaction, which I watched yesterday, was by a French Canadian girl … more on that further down. The first is two American sisters and whilst the French Canadian was cuter and her language issues and mindset were quaint, it became apparent that the sisters, being American, were far more au fait with American gags, let alone the game of baseball, the niceties of it. So they ended up maybe more fullfilling as reactors:
Now the French Canadian girl. She seems to be back after a banning by youtube … as you watch her, you’ll realise she wouldna hurt a fly … how on earth did she offend youtube? I found myself wishing to spring to her defence, as did so many other both males and females. She was embarrassed by some of the romantic and more raunchy bits, she was trying to make sense of it … that was the entertaining part.
But then I realised just now … those watching this post are mainly Brit males … the two youtubes are more for American and French females. A most interesting exercise altogether, chaps and chapesses.
One last thing … I went to an Angels game in Anaheim once but no one was shot … there were peanuts everywhere though. And that stadium in the film was the Dodgers.
And one last, last thing … those predictions in 1988 for 2001.
