5. And therein lies the core issue

The man quoted has @EmeraldRobinson all wrong … she calls out any not moving the country fwd and on Wiles etc., she hits the nail on the head. The Donald has always chosen bad gatekeepers, gung-ho yet flatterers.

2. Short op ed on privacy

Interesting, people’s ideas of that. The other day, I saw the new neighbour down there, flew down to meet and say hi, took him around the complex. Thing was the initial reserve …we stood maybe a yard and a half apart, friendly mooshes, let a certain amount out about ourselves … after the most important part.

That most important part was assuring him, silently, that I was not remotely interested in “putting upon him”, wanting something. Actually I did want to mention our roster but waited and anyone, that’s a group requirement, minor. He said I was the first person he’d spoken to since he’d moved in two weeks ago.

Well yes … and it was only coz I’d flown down there that that even happened. People around here usually only approach you if they want something … so we learn to stay largely invisible. If approaching, it’s always at a slight distance, neutral manner. Yet bonds do form, just as they do here at UHC … quite disparate unherdables … and yet a protective bond all the same, unstated.

That’s behind my not using a phone … gummint have the number, the utilities … why not? They text. I never answer the phone unless you’re in the address book … if you are, you’re vouched for and conversation ensues, but always wary of being put upon … so is he/she, stock reply ready. Sometimes, it’s obvious, so the offer is made.

I’m thinking it’s the way we’re thrown together on this island, high density, yet highly valuing those green areas around us … we need connections with people but a certain amount … however, it is hierarchical … there is a sliding scale, with those innermost able to operate more freely back and forth. Banter is the innermost … if you can take banter, you’ve arrived.
