Good Friday [1 to 4]

(0324) Middle of the night … Good Friday morn … greetings, unherdables.

4. Giorgia and Donny

To say I’m biased is an understatement … I’d certainly fly to Rome for a cuddle with the fair Giorgia, as Donny will:

Working together to build a stronger West.

Today in Washington I met with President
@realDonaldTrump
. A fair and constructive discussion on strategic issues: from security to defense, from the fight against illegal immigration to trade relations.

I took the opportunity to invite him to Rome, and I am pleased that he accepted. It will be a further opportunity to strengthen the dialogue between our Nations.

Italy is increasingly a protagonist in a rapidly changing international scenario. And today, also thanks to the work done in recent years, our point of view is listened to and respected.

The bond between Italy and the United States remains solid, vital and decisive to face the great global challenges together.

3. Food for thought from Andy at 1023

a. “Two articles I’ve just read, one from our national propaganda machine and the other from the odious rag. This is about the so-called Romeo and Juliet clause, permitting teachers to not report sexual activity involving minors if there is a negligible age difference. Somehow it makes sense, teens being teens but these days I can only see it as the thin end of yet another wedge. Pray, or weep for our children.”

1. A Good Friday message

I just wrote this over at Orphans and it applies here too. The difference is I stay just political afap over there … here I allow myself some latitude into the Christian and western heritage commemoration:

……

If ever there was a commemoration or festivity so fraught by diversity in what it means to which people, it’s Easter/Pascha/Resurrection Sunday (and by extension … Good Friday).  From our Gab type out and out libertarians through to our “religiously inclined”, the capacity for offence is major.  Time to trot out the old trusty quote about it:

I can only answer for myself here but the very act of wellwishing on this weekend is nice … for some, it will be fluffy bunnies and painted eggs (my ex-gf overseas), plus that special Orthodox bread … for some it is the passion of Christ today, even our pagans recognise the festivity of regrowth of spring.

One thing for sure is that in our part of the world, it is one of these things … it is not that excrescence blighting our people, esp. our girls and women … then our boys in schools, then us men, such as we still are.  It is not the globo horror our political class are pushing so hard … at least we do flatly reject all that.

  1. Happy Easter folks. As a family we always went to my Nan’s house in Torquay so my memories of this special weekend are those of my childhood, Babbacombe and St. Marychurch. Back to today and it’s nice to see both GB News and Talk Radio are engaging with Christianity in a sincere way this Good Friday. As for King Charles he’s pushing Islam again in our holiest week. He’s no good to us. No good at all.

    • Happy Easter to you too.

Nan’s house was were we ended up too. Not as exotic as Torquay though! 🙂 Extra dandelion and burdock pop with sides of chocolate and crisps always bought in for when we invaded. A walk to the park to roll Easter Eggs dressed in our Sunday best. Happy days!

The hereditary head of the CoE isn’t working. Time that part was abolished, imho.
