(1618) Call me a loony but I have a contractual obligation with my Maker to give the politics a rest until tomorrow afternoon, post-prandially, following this post. Music, film, docu-short, yes but no real world politics until maybe 1330 Sunday. Similar arrangement at OoL which I’ll post there. Must do this.

JH: The other comments stay in situ for sensitivity reasons, let’s say. Easily found by our regulars … just been looking at them after the Delingpodcast. Think we have enough for now to keep us occupied.

9. I have vague memories, frequently supported by my mother’s tale telling, of following the coal men around. I must have been three or four years old at the time I got a little tricycle with a nice big boot at the back. Mother would remind me that I would cycle up and down the road without a stick of clothing on my back, safe to do then because there were no cars on the estate. Occasionally I would disappear for half an hour or so, at first mum would worry, until she realised that I was following the coal lorry. Our fires then burned coke for the water boiler and firewood from the woods opposite. The better off would have coal – actual coal delivered. A trunk full of coal was gladly received by mum and dad, even though I needed a bath afterwards.
